Hey Everyone, I have a 2011 883 Sportster with 10,000 km's that is causing me some grief. Starts and idles fine, accellerates and cruises at highway speeds just fine. However when riding at lower speeds, eg. riding through town at 60kph it misses and carries on. If I change down, it will go ok until I feather the throttle to maintain my speed, then the miss/surge returns. Same happens on my road to get home. As the road is a dirt surface I need to go slower, mainly 3rd gear and it misses and carries on, sometimes actually stopping for a brief second.
I have checked my voltage regulator for charge etc. and it checked out ok. Have replaced the plugs, the only thing I have done different is I have had a new dash fitted with a tacho, fuel gauge etc 5 years ago and I can't remember if it was playing up before I had the new dash fitted or not. I have tried different octane fuel with no change in symptoms.
Because of the miss/surge I don't ride it much, fuel is always replenished each ride though. Maybe plaque in the fuel system, not sure.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers

If you haven't done so already, some simple things to check:
    - The state of the air filter.  A dirty or blocked air filter may cause issues.
    - Put some inector cleaner through your fuel tank next time you fill up.
These may not be the cause but they're simple things to do/check.

I will do that, not sure how long it sat before I purchased the bike. The other thing I'm thinking is that whether or not it was tuned to the Screaming Eagle pipes that were fitted before I bought it.

Tuning would be good to look at as well.  Dealers can usually detect whether the bike has had an ECU flash.

replace the TPS... they get worn/dirty on the setting at near closed/1/8 throttle and make the engine splutter and act up.  A temp test would be to spray contact cleaner on the TPS wiper, but tbh its a cheap part and bloody easy to swap out.  (remember to follow manual instructions as the ECU needs to know and check the new values etc)
