G'day, daughter and grandson have just been at the scouts jamboree at Maryborough. They had a bit of rain, and seek advice about packing the tent and other equipment. Apparently, it will sit at a site for about a month. Any ideas, I suggested wrapping it really tight. She is a bit worried about mould. I quote "   Intent and chair and stretched will stay in the crate for a month getting moved back from site to cataract where we pick it up, it's going to be gross" . I think that is the tent and stretcher and chair. sounds a bit disorganised to me, but what would I know ?  Any suggestions ?

    I've got a  suggestion  !
Get yer lazy arse up there next week and put the tent up and dry it out. You will have free accommodation  and as an added bonus you will find there is a local pub you can have a beer in.

Just roughly pack it to get home, then set up at home, let air out and dry out.
Once completely dry,  pack up till nextvtime

    G'day,
yes, that's what I said, but, everything goes to Cataract first where it stays for about a month. Sounds totally disorganised to me. I would have thought that the scouts would have this under control after 50 or so years and 25 previous jamborees.

    G'day,
    "More rain due Friday"
Wonderful. We had a bit of rain yesterday, Wednesday,
The Jamboree camp is a field of mud.
One, [the volunteer] is home, but the scout's bus was diverted to pick up some stranded scouts with a broken down bus so he's running late. Just gets better and better.
I remember, [ old man time] going to the Kangaroo Valley rally, and having to set up my tent in the wind and the rain.
And at the Alpine Rally when I tried to start the bike the clutch cable snapped at the lever, [ it was a bit cold ]. Luckily I had a small vice grip pliers and some duct tape. That temporary repair lasted some three months or so.
    So scouts, be prepared.
    [/old man time]
    End of rant.
