One question , has it ever spun over that quickly before ?
Almost quicker than with no spark plugs fitted !!

I dunno if it's light years better, kinda comparable with a new fully charged HVT-1, it may be a little faster perhaps but the volts DO hold up better while it's cranking, the SSB new I think dropped to 10 while cranking, I did note that on here a couple of years ago from memory, would have to look it up.
The SSB I just took out was dropping to 7 volts cranking from fully charged, I'm surprised it started at all.
I'll try to check cranking volts on a regular basis to see how well this one stands up over time.
The weight difference still astounds me, two hands trying to get the old battery out, it's heavy and a tight spot, two fingers and a thumb to put the new lithium one in.
Edit, yep 10 volts.

Took the bike and daughter into town this morning, I dunno if it's the battery or not but when I fired it up to head home it started first revolution, hit button, bike running, that quick, this one has never started that easy, I chased slow starts on it for months, even had Steve Cole modding a Screaming Eagle cal for me to try, can be a nice chap can Steve, it's running a TTS Cal now though and has been for some time so it's interesting that it has now done this, see how it goes next time, I guess it could be the battery as when it cranks over the voltage only drops into the 11 bracket, just thought I'd chuck it out there.

I think the cranking voltage definitely could be the reason .
A combination of more cranking speed, better spark and keeping the ECU in its happy zone .
The increase in voltage is the main reason I would be interested to try an Li .
I'm just not sure my old single phase charging system is ideal !
It is a shame that the safer tech LiFePO has a lower cell voltage, but they still seems to do the job well.

I'm happy to be the guinea pig on this one but we ain't getting any younger mate 😁.
I don't either, you would need to monitor the output to see if it makes enough to get this type back up, the BCM will handle overcharge conditions but the bike needs to be able to produce what's needed.

Was in the shed last night ratting around looking for the spare fob for the wife's car and thought I would check the bike battery with the Predator app just to see how it was going, was 13. something volts.
I stupidly wondered what would happen if I turned the battery off, so I did, bikes response was as if someone had disconnected the battery, funny that, alarm went off, I thought, I'll just turn the battery back on then, big mistake, it just got flammin louder, didn't matter if the main power switch was on or off it was convinced it was being stolen, I did try to manually enter the code but stuffed it up first go and it wasn't having a bar of me doing it again so I turned the battery off again with the app, alarm still going but quieter.
I went back down to the house to get the fob, 5 minutes max I was back and the alarm had stopped and she was as dead as a doornail, fired the app up again on the phone and turned the battery back on with the fob present and it all returned to normal, whew!
Lesson learnt, use same method as you would to disconnect a normal battery to prevent alarming before turning a lithium battery off if it has that feature.
However, I would hazard a guess the battery in the alarm itself might be toast as it wasn't alarming when I returned, that sound right or do they just switch off after a couple of minutes, haven't looked into it yet, anyone know?

I was wondering about the "sleep" function of this battery and the alarm .
So I guess the "shake to wake" function can't be used ?
Not sure if this suits your model, but the 9volt style alarm batteries do die eventually .

Thanks for the link, 2016 model, I'll get a battery and do it I think.
I should know but I'm not sure if the sleep function is the same as turning it off, if it is then that's what happens, I need to find out for sure, it's probably right in front of me like my 1/4 drive torque wrench haha.
Edit, I believe it is the same thing, I cannot find anything to suggest otherwise, I did wonder about it myself in the beginning of this thread, the function can be set up via the app, the battery does not appear to lose much charge in the short term so I don't know how I can test it in real life, I've never had a lead acid battery go completely flat in a bike with an alarm but you would think that would do the same thing if it did.
