Don't wind it over until you get a mechanic to check it over, minimum you would need to stick a camera into the intake tracts and cylinders, anything could of got sucked in there when it went down, proper advise would be pull it down but you might get lucky.

Hey retro, yes I did get one fob key :)) I’m very glad about that. I did manage to charge the battery a little just to get a dash reading of the odo it’s done 54701kms. The throttle body has been snapped off and the screws are stuck so I couldn’t turn it on :( unfortunately I have no mechanical experience to be able to work on the bike my self. I have contacted the hog doctor to help me out he is a mobile mechanic who will come out have a look at the bike tomorrow but had injured him self and won’t be able to work my bike for at least a month. So for the things I need to get that for it from what I can see is new forward controls, as I have contacted everyone possible and no one sells individual parts for the hawg halter forward controls :( so I have to buy some cheap replacement for now. And new filters for the air cleaner I found them for $100 each on a website? The tank has a minor little dent and needs to be pulled and painted, do does the front fender I have been quoted $500 to fix both and painted. And new handle bar grips with clutch and brake lever. And that’s about all really oh and rear indicators. And then my main issue I guess is that snapped off throttle body ! Once I can figure that one out how to get that back on I guess I could start it (I can’t wait to hear it) then I will most definitely have to catch up with you for that tune 💪🏼 hehe.  I have looked everywhere for a seat I cannot find a 2 up seat for a good price there all $500 plus ?  Thank you soooo much for the reply’s and help

You mentioned a fob but no tuning dongle. If you are lucky, it has got a harley tune in it and you could chase up a refurbished tuner.
If it has a TTS tune in it, Retro will be real excited about helping you out  😊

It would run without the induction air kit except for the fact the throttle cables are hooked up to it.

I was going to run my bike one night after snapping off the Heavy Breather.
My mate said what about the fuckin' big hole in the tank?  The bike had gone under the back of a ute and the tow ball had punched a big hole in the right side of the tank. I said "I still got fuel in the other half of the tank."  :)

Not to sure about a tuning dongle ? I have a little key and the fob tag that’s all I got with the bike

This is the SEPST that may have been used to put a tune in your bike. Once used on your bike it is married to your ecm and can't be used on another bike. If it is lost you can buy a new one or a refurbished one and use it on your bike but you cannot use one that has been married to another bike.
There are a few guys about who use a TTS tuner which is a similar tuner but it locks the ecm to safeguard the tune in it and it cannot be accessed by a different type of tuning dongle. The ecm needs to be unlocked with another TTS dongle.
    And then there is powervision......

Dammm bro I’m clueless about this to be honest. Do you think to be safe I should take it to Harley Perth and have it checked out properly ? Rather then having a mobile mechanic come around and work on it ?

Nothing wrong with a mobile mechanic if he knows his shit and the HD dealer will make it harder than it needs to be, see what ol mate says when he has a look, who is he?

Is it Harty with the broken ankle? I don't know of him personally, perhaps Retro does though.

Yes sir I believe so! I have heard only good things about the guy. I came across his fb page wanderin hog doctor. A friend told me to check it out. He did tell me he won’t be able to work on it tomorrow due to his injury but he will come around land tell me everything I need to get to get it back on the road. All his reviews say he is the man in Perth for the Harley’s💪🏼 so I’m hoping he will help me out.

UPDATE: looks like I’m in the shit neck deep… harty had a look at it he said, mate strip it and sell it in parts.. it looks it has some expensive gear on it. But the frame where the rear brake forward control sat on is a little hit and will need straightening out. Which is a huge and costly job stripping the bike to the frame and getting it straightened out… :(((

Given enough time you can source all required hard parts from ebay Australia, Bay USA and local Gumtree.

New parts the USA dealers can't post to you no more, but any used parts from the US no worries.

Look at the HD forums US site. LOADS of good used "new bike take off" parts there.

I fixed a VERY bent 2006 Dyna in 2009 and found all the used parts , most in the US.

I had it running within 3 weeks needing a new primary cover etc etc and Within 3 months it was riding on the road.

Fixed my bingled tank last, and "paintless dent removal" got it 99.5% clear. new tank badge and she was apples.

Is the bike a "statutory write off" ? Auction house would have had to state the fact.

You do have a world of hurt if it is sorry to say!

I have seen auction buys go very well in the past ALSO I have seen guys burned (more often actually !)

I’m not so worried about sourcing the parts I’m really worried about the frame being a little bent. The frame hasn’t had the direct impact but the forward control had been ripped off and that’s caused the frame a lil twist I guess… would you know any one good and cheap in Perth that might be able to have a look at it for me ? Harty said he doesn’t want to touch it all :( if you give me your mob I can send you photos of it ? I just can’t post up here from phone

It’s a repairable write off , not statutory so I can deffs get it regoed again ! But harry scared me and said I will need some one to strip the whole bike then take the frame somewhere to straighten it out then again put the whole bike back together

PS I do have another "good guy" in Perth who has a MOUNTAIN of used parts.

Can put you in touch with him. YOU'D HAVE TO BE DOING THE SPANNERS YERSELF THO' !

To make it economically viable you would have to. That 2006 I fixed looked worse than yours , it had been somersaulted over the median strip from arsehole to elbow BUT I fixed it myself , many many man hours.

Thats a bit of a bummer BLKOPS.
You obviously knew there was gonna be a few challenges when you bought the bike so dont give up yet.
Any chance you can take a few pics of the bit that is bent? I know photos dont always tell the true story but it would be interesting to see it anyway.
This might not be the best advice you've ever had in your life but sometimes  brute force and ignorance works a fuckin treat.

Just some random musing, wish I could see it in person but that's way too many miles, we had a good mate over there that would of helped you out but sadly he rides the great highway in the sky now.

Being as you are not keen on swinging the spanners it will cost a packet in labour if has to be pulled down by a shop, the frame kink/twist or whatever really shouldn't be that bad or it would of been written off statuarly, maybe a second opinion?

Don't go to the dealer though, if they even agreed to fix it, which I highly doubt, it would be cheaper to buy a new one by the time they got it sorted.
Maybe move it on mate, put the dollars towards another?

It intrigues me, I would love it as a project but distance is a killer, but here is the thing though, you could learn how to work on it yourself, hook up with Retro's chap, then with the help of a workshop and parts manual plus the internet, slowly slowly get it to where it needs to be, it will still cost a fair bit but you will derive a deep appreciation and connection with the bike, none of us started out knowing anything, all had to start somewhere.

The hardest part of the project will be not being able to ride it until you finish it.
You need to be able to do a lot of the work yourself or the labour will kill you. Get a workshop manual,  and some tools if you don't have sufficient, and do a bit of research on the net and then ask questions on the forums when you need to.
Getting it back on the road will give you a real good feeling, and boost your confidence in your mechanical ability.
