I gotta be honest when it comes to it I support the cowboys, when they drop out it's storm, if they drop out it's the one I dislike least, that's my season, state of origin it's Queensland all the way even though I'm technically Tasmanian but international......I don't even watch it, it is off my radar, maybe that's the problem here, need to get it back in the spotlight, make people care.

The problem is that a third of NRL players are Kiwis or Islanders who come here to play because they are going to make a lot more money than they will playing at home.
A half of NRL players have one or both parents who were born overseas.
And then the NRL expects them to have allegiance to our country rather than their country of origin ?
I know Ponga was born here but it is obvious that his family have much stronger ties to their homeland than they do to Australia.

Also, those not born in this country should not be playing Origin but the games would be a sad spectacle without their participation.
The rules have been manufactured by the NRL to put the best talent on display.

We don't have this problem with our national game AFL, and the All Australian side is picked on ability and performance, but does not have anyone to play  :(

Origin has bullshit qualifying provisions, as you say, to get the talent pool up, I reckon it would still pull a crowd if they were only eligible if they are born in that state, at one point they were trying to find a way qualify Taumalolo, the captain of Tonga! Just another money making machine.

Evo it might be a blessing in disguise, this way he can't get sent off in the opening hit up leaving them a man down for the whole game, any team that can start Walsh on the bench has a good side.

With Storm its a case of next man up....its certainly a loss but they have this young kid whos bigger and heavier than Nelson if they choose to go that way. Looking forward to this game.

Storm couldn't match them, it was a try but I don't think the outcome would of been any different, Panthers fit and disciplined.

Panthers played very well indeed.....live and on replay i think it was a try but we will never know if it could have changed the momentum. Well done Panthers and a big thanks to the members who joined the comp .....its on again next season.

Turuva's try wasn't a try.  Surprised nobody had a closer look at it at the time. There's an eight point turn around.
Refs are just as hopeless as AFL umpires.

Fuck me I just watched it in slow Mo! he doesn't ground the bloody ball!
Oh man that's fucked, they pull everything else apart down to the last millimetre, so the storm one was denied and was grounded and this one was awarded without grounding or scrutiny, kinda changes the result don't it, man!

NRL will soon start playing hard ball with these young blokes I reckon, if Ez's blood test comes back positive I think the off season will be a time of shake ups and new absolute rules around drugs and behaviour.

I do not envy ol Madge, he is up against it, last year was just plain horrific for the Broncs, started out bad with Pat and Adam's drunken tussle and went downhill from there, if management give him free reign I reckon he can turn it around but if he doesn't get to decide who plays week to week it's going to remain splintered, overpaid "rock stars" do not a team make and that shit needs to stop.

i think "rock star" mentality is too ingrained now, well at least until some change of roster maybe....
