Picked up a stablemate for the Road Glide - this ‘05 Sportster. Plenty of fun and a nice alternative from the big tourer for a quick ride on a Sunday morning.

Nice one Jayman6, good ride for the times you don't want fries with it, only the lean meat.

Can't quite make out what's supporting the back of the seat. Springs? Short spring/damper units? Rubber bungs? How comfortable is it? I'm thinking of doing something similar with my 90 model.

    Thanks Steve
They’re just rubber bungs. Look, it’s not that bad for a couple of hours, it looks a lot worse than it is. I guess you just need to be realistic about what you’re using it for, which in my case is just a quick blast over Beechmont or Mt Tamborine, with a stopover for a coffee and a bacon roll. The lowered suspension is probably the bigger contributor to discomfort than the seat. My biggest gripe is it’s quite slippery and you’ll feel yourself sliding back on it when you give it a squirt. A nice little mustang or lepera solo with some diamond stitching would be a bit more functional i reckon, and in keeping with the style. With all that being said - it’s meant to be a raw, bare-bones type of bike so you need to take the bad with the good i guess.

For sure, big motor, 2 wheels,  small tank, small seat, not much else, all loud and proud, that's what Sportsters are about. Sportsters, outrunning big twins since 1957.  🙂

That’s the one! Yeah it’s a real no-fuss old school thing, pour some fuel in it and point it somewhere, that’s about all there is to it. If you get bored of it then you need only look at the thousands of customisation options available and you could reinvent the thing completely for a relatively low cost. Every Harley lover should have one i reckon.

Or, if you get bored with it just ride it somewhere new....
