Has anyone used these type? Any good or need something more mechanically advantageous for Harley rims?

I use a couple of 8-inch G clamps from Bunnings lot cheaper

I would give them a go for repairs on the road with spoked wheels, steel rims and tubes.
They double as tyre irons and you would need them with G clamps anyway.
I would think twice about using them with mag or aluminium rims and they will likely be tubeless anway and repaired using plugs with tyres intact on the rims.
I dont pull tyres off rims at home anymore, l did plenty of that years ago.
For new tyres, l just remove the wheel and take it to the shop.

Do you remember me yabbering on about changing the spokes ages back? I'm thinking when these tyres are due I might pull the tyres off myself and have a crack at fitting stainless ones(spokes not tyres), can get a stand for around $60 which is cheaper than I could build one I reckon, how hard could it be 😁

You going to do the static balance too ?

Depends if I fit the tyres or get a shop to do it, haven't made my mind up on that yet, usually just take the wheels in and let Locke'ie do it, I assume he balances them.

Putting tyres on a rim is easier than taking them off.
I had a mate with a shop who did static balance and was going to get him to teach me but never got to it.
Got to have the expertise and an assortment of weights.
Probably not worth it for the occasional job.

Yeah, my weights are attached to the spokes, wouldn't want stick on ones, bit fugly

Are the bead breakers for home use only ?
I use a long length of aluminium with one end fixed to the work bench as a pivot , and an arm mounted near the pivot to press on the bead.
I generally fit and balance my own tyres.
Stattic balance is easy and works perfectly.

Workbench would be built-in or pretty heavy ?

Yes, bench is fixed to the floor .
You can use a wall stud as well (or a tow bar receiver ! )

An open doorway and a block of wood and a car jack will work too.
