    G’day guys,
I’ve had my 2021 Fat Bob in the garage for the last few months and haven’t really been riding it. I’ve been starting it and running it for about ten minutes every week to try keep a bit of charge but haven’t had it on a trickle.
Yesterday I went to go for a ride and it was a very laboured start but it got there. Rode for about an hour then back home. Today though, no start, with an engine light.
I’ve got this error which is intermittent lose of power, and was hoping someone would have a fix for this. Unsure where to go from here and any help would be appreciated.

I reckon your fix is a new battery.
Doing what you are doing trying to maintain charge in the battery is a big mistake. Not good for the battery or the engine.
Buy a trickle charger. You may be able to bring your battery back, otherwise you will be up for a new one.

Takes more than 20 minutes riding to put back the charge you used on start up.

I have been using battery tenders myself for near 25 years now. "Battery fighter junior" the brand.

Especially since 2007 when "factory security" became the norm on Aussie supplied new Harleys.

Frasers started to fit them to all new Harleys they sold from late 2007 as they were swamped by the FIFO guys been 3/4 weeks away get home and the bike won't start. Battery warranty claims went thru' the roof. Annoyed customers blah blah...

Battery fighter junior pigtail attached and a battery will last over 5 years even with the factory proximity sensor alarm.

I have seen genuine HD batteries go near 7 years with regular tender use. Other battery brands less so in my experience.

Perhaps the other Aussie HD dealers don't fit tenders up to all the new bikes during the workshop PDI ?

If you aint got one then get one. Maybe the M8 battery is a prick to access tho'. I do hear that about the traps.

And yes starting the bike (or a classic car etc) the way you described is while it sounds a good idea, it isn't.
Start and go for a run, getting the engine fully warm is the way to go.

Well, had her on a tender all day and she’s back to life.
Lesson learnt, keep hooked up. Cheers for the help though 🤙🏼

Do you still see a genuine HD battery go that long mate? From about 2012 mine seemed to only go a couple of years, my Slim's ( 2016) battery was replaced under warranty within a year, the replacement didn't go to two, but then my bike don't "live" on the tender as I ride it often but it usually is during the working week.....perhaps I should hook it up when it's parked religiously?

I leave mine hooked up to the tender most of the time, I have the little HD 0.8amp one and my previous LRS's battery was still going strong when I traded it (3years plus)
