2008 Electra Glide Fork Legs.

Hello people, I’m trying to rebuild my fork legs on my Electra Glide and need to know what size socket or ring spanner I need to remove the top fork caps.
Also, can anybody tell me what fork oil is equivalent to HD’s type E fork oil, ie 15 or 20 weight.
Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.

Hey Neale, it's not as straight forward as that because there is no set standard for fork oil weight like there is for gear and engine oil, so one companies 10 weight could well be another's 15, but, with a bit of cross referencing of the CST values which are a constant you can sort out the apples from the orange's, the chart does not have every oil but once you get your head around it you can find the CST values from any oil company.

Also if you use this calculator and put your oil of choices CST at 40 and 100 degrees then put in the oils actual operating temp you can see what the CST is at that temp and as I've discovered in my testing is not anywhere near as hot as I thought it would be, typically a few degrees above ambient!
