Recover my ride

G’day all. Has anyone encountered issues with recover my ride. Couldn’t get my bike to start so called for assistance to be told 60-90 mins. Then a call back 5 mins later to say they can’t attend for 5 hours. If no use to me stranded on the side of the road. I hope no one else wastes their money on these incompetent turds.

I had a terrible experience with them. Firstly the guy that answered my call was just plain rude. I was stuck on the side of the road and told yes it would be five hours minimum. Then I enquired as to if they could take my bike all the way home (Scoresby VIC). They said no they would only take it to the nearest local mechanic (Hastings VIC). This was on a Saturday afternoon. Meaning that my bike would be left parked in front of the local mechanic shop until they open again on Monday. I told them this was unacceptable and I needed the bike to be taken to my home. They told me under the policy this was not possible. I ended up getting a mate to come with the trailer. I later haggled with them to cancel both of my bike policies. I got a tiny refund. So I have now the RACV top cover that has far more benefits, than Recover My Ride.

Sad to hear that. I asked them what the point of being with them was is if I’m going to be stranded when I actually require their assistance. No answer forthcoming so I’ve requested a full refund. Which I’m sure they’ll no doubt want to avoid. I’m in WA so I hope the RAC can add my bike to my car policy. What I find more annoying is that I’m with swan insurance for my bike and they actually recommend these twats. I’ll be sending them a message also.

Yes. Same, although it was included in my insurance policy. Then my insurance company sent me notification that Recover My Ride is no longer included. So I mistakenly took out a separate policy with Recover My Ride. Absolute waste of money.
I guess that’s why the insurance company stopped including them…

Yeah mate. That’s exactly what happened to me. No idea why any reputable insurance company would endorse them. It is what it is. Wont be using them again that’s for sure. Thanks for the feedback.

They seem to be resisting spending our premiums on an actual service to us, their customers. (Now former customers!)

If in Vic , have a Poke around - RACV total care.
Can be used for multiple vehicles - you nominate one and even if driving another vehicle the benefits can be used , I think it has 120 km of included towing
    - jUst  checked it’s 100 klm - don’t want to call it ‘ freee’
It is about $200 a year
     - seems to have gone up $300 …
but may be cheaper than one tow , or tyre / fuel issue etc .
Ps tow your caravan top, if you have one attached .

When I got the slim I got an automatic hog membership so I got the roadside assist thing while I was at it, bike refused to start at the servo one day, click click click, nope, called them, bloke turned up in about 20 minutes, he turned it on, hit the the starter and it fired straight up! Will never call them again 😂
