Lowrider FXLRS 117 "reduced power while riding"

    Hi All,
I have a Lowrider FXLRS 117 2022 model and experiencing an issue with it.
The model is standard with only S&S mufflers added.
    3400Km on the clock now.

The Problem: At random during a ride the motor will loose considerable power and feel very flat, to the point where you
would not be able to pass a car in 6th at 100km safely. There is no unusual noise from the motor or hesitation, just really flat with a large drop in HP and torque. This is in every gear and usually occurs after about 40 to 60 minutes of riding. it will also just randomly go away just as quickly?

This issue has been on and off since brand new and the dealer has been notified and has had the bike back in the workshop on many occasions with no resolve or idea of what is the cause of the power loss as yet.

Has anyone had the same experience that has been resolved?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Read up on " sumping" mate, rather unusual for a softail M8 to be doing it and even more unusual for one that hasn't been opened up but it sounds a bit like it.

take it back to the dealer again and tell them you're not happy they should sort it for you. did they do  stage 1 tune? I did hear about a 117 LRS lunching it's engine due to insufficient piston clearance on a American HDforum resulting in a new engine under warranty. my LRS has been going great

I have taken out the crankcase sensor and no extra oil in the case?
oil is also slightly high on the dip stick on a stop during a ride check, perfect on a shed check

This does not sound good bro, at least you have warranty.

Hmm yes but the Dealer seems to not believe me that there is an issue because it has not happened to them while riding.
They actually said "they didn't want to book anymore hours to it"
I was hoping someone else would of had the same sort of issue so that i could then move forward with a little more confidence.

Tell them you're not happy with it and either fix it or return the money or even go to another dealer if there's one close

I just fixed a 114 something Bob, with what sounds like a similar issue. This bike has been flashed with the current, new black super tuner. Owner went back to the dealer two or three times and they told him he wasn't revving it enough before selecting sixth. I took it for a ride and it was inconsistent and Flat,.. Tuned it with my Power Vision, happy days. The guy loves it and it runs much cooler.

Is that the Dynojet Power Vision Tuner?

Yes, basically the customer came into me explaining similar symptoms to what you have, and his bike just needed a tune. Stock Street/Fat  Bob with slip on mufflers and air filter. Still had the CATs in everything. It was running erratically. he had been given/sold a stg one flash, super lean California style flash. I just tuned it and it was a different bike . Yours is a 2022 so will have the working Harley oil pump. BTW if you are passing a car at 100kph remember you have a gearstick.

Actually, I just had the thought that your inlet manifold may be leaking.... This is also common.

The only problem I can see is this(tune) may void your warranty if that matters, unless the dealer agrees or does the dyno tune themselves

I am not a warranty officer, but maybe get your dealer to actually check the tune and maybe the manifold for leaks. I get heaps of bikes in here which the dealers have "tuned" . Power Vision licenses and Maximus. Non Harley products both of them. It may not be your problem, but it may very well be..

definitely re-set your AC backing plate, make sure bolted to heads before tightening up

very common intake leak, notice after 30=40mins riding, heated up

maybe check your tune to stock tune, should see big difference in charts if fault there. bike is running

Often have leaks with plastic manifolds, doesn't matter whether bolts are tight or not.
