    50th anniversary model, well done.

I'd love to own one of the nineteen Z900RS 50th anniversary bikes that came to Australia.

Jay Dee i saw a totally brand new Z900 at the powerhouse museum. It was a spare bike from the move "Stone" and had never been pre delivered and the only mileage on it is from walking it around. Truely amazing to see a brand new bike after this long.

That's cool, similar story, see below. I was saving up for one of these when I first had my licence, changed my mind at the last minute and bought a Suzuki 4WD instead.

Hugely tempting but really only for the nostalgia value, you would have to pay five times what it was worth new, it would need a heap of work and finding parts for it would be an expensive nightmare.

Brings back old memories. We used to sell them like hot cakes to the proddy boys and John Richards ran one for the bike shop. Buster Saunders, who was a midget, was very successful on one.

G'day,  my first bike was an ex police Kawasaki W1P. All white, complete with a switch to lock the speedo. Vibration was a bit of a problem, so much so that the shop used to give me new head light globes when needed. The local bikie copper told me that he had lost a siren, [attached to the crash bar] and had even cracked the crash bar. This was in 1969,1970 ish.

Hey flstc08, you're the only other person I know who admits to owning one of them. At one stage I had 4 of them tucked in the shed. W2s mostly. With a shaved head, Ivan Tighe reground cam and the twin carb heads they were about as fast as the average 650 BSA or Triumph, but held tune way better. Best bike BSA never made.

An old mate with more money than me and a bigger shed sent me a pic today of how his latest bike turned out after he put the finishing touches on it.

I should have said a mate with WAY more money than me, this is sitting in his shed as well. Been out of touch with him for 20 years, had a bit of a blue, and only caught up again a few months ago. I suggested that maybe he had a bit of a bike addiction problem, his reply was that addiction is only a problem if you can't afford to support it.

Talked my mate into getting his first adventure bike......picked up his brand new Pan America this morning he got 90klm before the engine light came on. Dealer came out straight away with the van and has given him a demo bike till they figure what's wrong.

I would be tempted to buy a Pan America, but I have heard of so many problems with them.
Please keep us updated on how the bike works out for him after clocking up some km's .

He's been a Harley boy forever so laughed at me when i bought a Bmw 1200 adventure bike. I rode a Pan Am before buying my bike but chose tried and tested over new model. Its a great bike and both bikes certainly have more ability than i have skill. Will let you know the outcome.

I've always had a bit of a bit of a hate for the beemers. I rode my mates 1150 GS adventure, and thought they were a real dog compared to my KTM 950.

But lately, the idea of a new GS doesn't sound so bad .
    The new 1300's sound interesting.

I was possibly the last person you could have sold a Bmw too after selling and servicing them for Nsw highway patrol back in the day.

I guess new parts fail sometimes.

Now get him on a few outback trips, and tell us how it survives 👍
