Screamin Eagle Nightstick

Hi all, I’ve got a 2013 FLD Switchback that came with a Screamin Eagle Nightstick slip on.
The previous owner took the flat end cap off and replaced it with one with a hole in it. Would this reduce the back pressure too much. I have read somewhere that if you replace the end cap there is a different baffle that should be installed. Does anyone have any information on this, or point me in the right direction to find more info?

My old persons memory thinks they were like a super trap style - take discs in or out to change note and back pressure
    Check this pic for reference

Thanks for reply, I understand that the more disks you use the back pressure decreases and the sound increases, but do you need a different baffle for the open end cap.

Have you looked at the Supertrapp site. They manufacture the Nightstick and sell core replacements and tuning (disc) kits which include open and closed caps.  Unless it’s buggered you won’t need a new core. Pull it out and check the glass mat. However, before you fit a closed cap make sure there are plenty of discs fitted. The stock pipe should have 10 discs. When you run an open cap the discs are superfluous (path of least resistance etc) but hopefully the discs were retained, if not, do not fit a closed cap.
Next thing is, with a closed cap, will it need a retune?
If the bike didn’t come with a super tuner it may be running the stock map anyway.

Thanks Ratbob, I’ll check out Supertrapp’s site for sure.
I’m running a set of fatcat at the moment but I want to try the Nightstick after I remove the Cat from the original headers.
I have a tuner so I can change it anytime I use a different set of pipes.

    1 x open end cap = 10 Disks.

    Thanks for all your comments.
I’m running SE 259 cams, SE high flow air filter kit and the SE Nightstick muffler.
Does any else use the open end cap, if so do you use baffle plates or don’t bother with them because of the open end.

What’s the sound, torque and power like. A previous comment said that with an open end cap the plates are superfluous.

The sound is a good deep rumble without being obnoxious.
The 10 disks look good tbh plus they do open things up a little more.
Power is good too (but I never have enough...lol)

Thanks, I put 6 in, but after reading comments on other threads and this one I’ll change to 10 before I fit it on the bike.

Thanks to all those that gave comments, they were very informative.
I’ve now finished changing from the FatCats to the Nightstick with 10 baffle plates, and the open end cap.
Along this journey I’ve made my own exhaust gasket installer out of a piece of scrap 10mm steel plate.
My biggest find was that when the previous owner had the FatCats installed, they use a different muffler mounting bracket that requires 2 of the bolts in the transmission bearing housing assembly to be used. What I found was that the housing had been broken at one of the bolt holes and there’s only half the lug there for the bolt to sit on. Guess I know what my winter project is. I’ve already ordered the housing, now I got a few months to read up on the manual (and Utube) to learn how to remove, disassemble the transmission to replace the housing.
For those that use a windshield, if yo zoom in on the bottom mounting bracket you’ll notice I’ve shifted it forward 50mm to change the windshield angle and successfully got rid of the helmet buffeting.
