    Oatlands bike show.
This show was called off last year due to continuing shit weather.
Thankfully things have warmed up and dried out a bit since and the re-scheduled event was on yestdee.
For a small state Tassie does punch a bit above its weight for the amount of motorbikes owned per cunt and there is always something new to see at this show.
Here are some random pictures of some of the exhibits for your perusal.

Well, there was a "Hokaida Wombat" bike in the pictures I posted.
Also a grim roadkill shot of a possum.
Posted that picture on bookface and they censored it.

Mighty Hodaka Wombats, first 3 bikes to reach the tip of Cape York, 1969 if my memory is any good, but I know it's not.
A bunch of young pineapple cockies from round Beerwah.
Great pics FC, would have been a good day, but not for the possum.

Ah well, got the model wrong, Ace not the Wombat, but it's been 35 years since I was told about it.

Posted the article but wasn't concerned about the recollection. Seems like the Cape may well be restricted at some time in the future. Was a little disappointed to see how poorly some of the bike tours treated the Cape. Like most things today, a minority fuck it for the majority.

It was a good day Steve.
I actually lashed out and blew 80 bucks on a pair of molded ear plugs.
These things are great, normal foam type plugs pale into insignificance as a comparison.
Can even claim em as a tax deduction as I can use them in my workshop.
They are meant to last 8 to 10 years, if you don't lose them first.

Some places become victims of their own popularity. Always gonna be some dickheads...
Seen pics of a Sporty right down on the rocks at the waters edge next to the sign at the tip.
But then I've also watched a 8mm home movie of a bloke riding a Kawa 100 Ag bike up Uluru, around 1970, safety rope run up around the old top chain post with a mate coming down on the rope end ready to belay.
Dunno if a Kadiechka man got them all in the end....
WTF, a couple of mates and I did some nightime rock climbing on a cathedral In Melbourne long time ago, had some respect though, never drove in any pitons.

And now as the development rd gets more tar each yr its getting more accessible for 2 wheel drive and family sedans. Still wouldn't recommend your Lambo but plenty of the indigenous boys do it it Falcons and Commodores.

    and more,

And wonderful to see Jack Ehret's Black Lightning out in public view, instead of being locked securely and privately away like most other possessions that cost 900 grand. Now I'm gonna ramble here, but I will bring it back on track. Got a text from my daughters partner a couple of days ago, he is getting rid of about 500 cds, asked if I wanted any, emailed through a series of pics of them in a shelf unit and said, choose what you want. So I've got about 200 cds coming, very wide mix. Amongst them is Rumour and Sigh, by Richard Thompson, English folk singer, whose most famous song is on that album.
Got some nice lines----red hair and black leather, my favourite colour scheme....
There's a good version online by The Red Molly Band, bringing in nice lap steel.
Nowadays Red Molly wouldn't be able to keep the Vincent, Proceeds of Crime legislation would be thrown at her.
Haven't ridden a Vincent twin, but have ridden a mates Comet round the hills near Lismore, while he followed on my Katana. Was a nice ride.
Gotta remember though, Jack Ehret was able to pull 141 mph out of that bike in the Oatlands show pic, Warner Riley and George Smith coaxed 200mph out of an Ironhead Sportster.

Unfair comparison there as the years of the records were a long way apart.
Shit, prolly 125cc bikes can do that nowdays.
But I agree it was nice to see the most expensive bike in the world sitting on a country Tassie oval, with no prize winning tag on it for the show.
Why hold it away from view anyway?. Pretty hard to steal a one off and do anything with it innit?.
