How's  things Soapy ?  What's the latest at the Whyalla steelworks?
Since I retired from the Port Kembla steelworks I haven't been keeping up with the gossip.
The last I heard was the government chucked in some money. Has anybody been laid off yet?

Since I retired from the Port Kembla steelworks I haven't been keeping up with the gossip.

In administration, they are still running, had a couple maintenance issues at the Blast furnace but they start up better now.
the government have put up about 3 billion, this is to run, not to bail out GFG (Gupta), they still owe the bills that were amassed.
only jobs gone were the main managers (about time) they have had their jobs since before the last administration.
as for the workers, they are short, a heap of people left or retired.
I work for Golding out at the mines, with the current mine plan, put out by GFG in January, Iron Knob has closed, almost out of Hematite, I moved over to Iron Baron, may close in the next couple months, there is over 3 billion tonnes of Magnetite in the range

back on thread, who has died, GFG Australia

That's why I won't have a dog, you get too attached to them and they don't live long enough.

In this instance you got a very short run Soapy, it's very sad that you lost him so early. Good looking dog too, I'll bet he was a good one.

Sorry to hear Soap. Dogs are so faithful.

Yeah, same Jay. Had many Rotties for well over 25 years but their life span was short. Last girl we had, we had to put down due to cancer, this was 4 years ago. It hurts so much. We said the same, no more.

    Soft...

Sorry to Hear Soapy....my Rotty made it to the gate to meet me, got his pat and bit of attention and dropped dead at my feet just as the Mrs and kids pulled up......was very emotional for all. Feel your pain.

Not sure if it is old news or fake news but read that Max Walker {Cricket}, and Robert Walls {AFL} have both passed in the last week or so.

    G'day,
    courtesy of the ABC news...
Australian Football Hall of Fame member and Carlton great Robert Walls has died aged 74.
Walls passed away after using voluntary assisted dying laws.
Walls won three VFL premierships as a player and one as coach with the Blues.
His family released a statement on Thursday morning confirming Walls's passing.
Max Walker's family are working to raise awareness and research funds for myeloma after the 68-year-old former Test cricketer died from the type of blood cancer.
It was previously reported the fan favourite bowler, commentator and author, nicknamed Tangles for his distinctive bowling action, died from melanoma, a skin cancer.

Well some of it is very old news...Max Walker died in 2016....but Rob Walls did die in the last day or so, he opted for assisted dying laws to end his journey.
