This is the multipurpose motor that they are going to use in several models. Its the motor that's going into the "Baby' Pan Am. The bigger 1250 motor is going to be in a tourer very soon.

Was always surprised that they never tried a V Rod based tourer, even one with small bags like a Dyna Switchback. Did see a home brew version of one on the Gold Coast twice, much longer shocks on the back, which would have given more comfort, cornering clearance and quickened up the steering. The bloke was hustling it hard through Gold Coast traffic one of the times I saw him.  The change to full liquid cooling is inevitable eventually.

Yeah but some people said that when Evos first came out, in FXRs, plastic side covers! And doesn't sound like a Shovel!
Never mind the far better reliability, power potential and handling.
These days, they don't have much choice on size of original equipment mufflers, not gonna get better.

What's a original equipment muffler.....oh sorry its the thing that allows you quiet passage home before you replace it with the noisy fuckers isn't it?

And if you've got any brains, hang up in the shed waiting for the visit to a test station after you get busted for noise. Although regional Qld is pretty good for avoiding that inconvenience.  Maybe it's just my white hair and beard and looking like a poor old pensioner.

Nor me. I've got this sick fascination with 1974 Ironheads, first Harley I ever rode, but find the 4 speed Evo one I've got an acceptable compromise. What I like about the earlier ones is the shape of the back half of the frame around the oil tank and top shock mount area. If I come across an old frame I might try a graft. Got a mate up the road 35 km who makes wonderful chrome moly frames for classic motocross.
