Hi guys. After a bit of help. Had a Maximus Tuner put on my 2021 Street Glide at my closest Harley dealer - now the bike rides like its got a huge cam, it hops and jumps if you're idling around anything under 1,500 RPM. It generally rides like shit! I've got a '19 Fat Bob with a torque cam and a Screaming Eagle tuner that rides 10 times more civilised.... Any thoughts or suggestions? Cheers, Wad

Needs tuning or at minimum the the right starter cal for your mods, nothing wrong with the device as it's capable enough but you need assistance getting it set up, where on the planet are you?

Thanks Grease Monkey for the reply. Yeah, I'm based in Geraldton WA. You would think a Harley dealer would be able to put the right tune in but appears not - this is the second time I've had problems with a wrong tune and it means a 900 km round trip to sort it out. I'm thinking about getting a Dyno Tune. Anyone recommend someone in Perth other than Perth Harley?

Plenty of Harley Dealers about who don't know how to tune but putting in the correct base map should be manageable.
A past member, Ando, used to go to Deano at Thundertec at Mundaring, but the business may have changed hands.
Another WA guy on here , Adam76 may have had some dyno work done recently. Send him a message.

    Jeez Wad,
know going ofrf topic a little here. Geraldton WA. I loved the joint. Old mates 'Spats', and many other pricks in the 70's who would near all be dead now. Cray fishing, outta there, Dongara, Snakey thingo, you know where I mean. Dont mention the walkabout, hah, give you walkabout. God missed that joint, in those days that was a window to the North, South or coral to the west. I digress bloke. Had ThunderMax and was extremely happy with it, Get a system that you know can be serviced by self, and or someone in the know locally, there are two or three there of. Mate, you wanna play with it good stuff. I know fuckall about tuning only what I read, and y old Guzzi 40mm pumpers I loved.

The young bloke who now tunes the bikes at Thundertech is a decent bloke, he takes pride in his work. The Maximus base tunes are just that, base tunes. They need a fair bunch of work. What mods are in the Streetglide.?

Thanks Lushy. I've now got the bike booked in, in 5 weeks to get a Dyno tune. It appears the basic can map from Harley is not going to cut it.... I'll let you all know how I get on. Cheers for all the input.

I am a bit annoyed with myself that I cannot remember his name, he is a guy who actually wants to tune a bike well and get a good result. I have spoken to him quite a few times and Deano taught him, then he has picked up from there.

Thundertechs new tuner  / owner is Brand.

My M8 softail came with a Maximus tuner. Can they be used like a power vision tuner for a complete custom tune on the dyno?
Or do they not have the features that the PV has?
    Thanks

Dyno tuner can use it to give you a complete tune, or you can do a fairly decent tune with it yourself if you have the know how.

    Hi Wad
I have the very same problem. Anything below 1500 rpm and she bunny hops. Did you get yours resolved? Did they put another tune in it? When I sat with my mechanic he selected from the drop down lists for the maximus my year model bike which is an ST street glide and away I went but when I had to go out of town and negotiate a shopping centre car park that’s when it went pear shape and I had to keep riding the clutch to limit the bunny hops
Any advice would be greatly appreciated mate

No mods at this stage. Had been searching to iron out a small hesitation on throttle application which since fitting maximus works however below 1500rpm it bunny hops and at idle runs like it has a lumpy cam in it

Try pulling a few degrees of timing below 1500 till you get to a Tuner

They don't really like to run around at 1500, it's unavoidable at times I get that but lugging them engines hastens their demise, a professional tune would help ya lots, costs though, so if you thinking mods do it an tune it.

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it. I’m in the hands of my HD guru as I’m not really across the maximus at all. I thought that perhaps there may be an appropriate tune which would work

Hi Michael. Yep, did fix the problem with a Dyno Tune by Full Throttle Powersports in O'Connor, WA. The base map installed by Perth Harley was running way too lean - in fact, it was actually dangerously lean..... Now it is running perfectly. Suggest you get a Dyno, don't take too much notice of anybody else. Cheers, Wad
