Stock headers removing CAT vs aftermarket headers

Hi all, this question has been asked a lot I believe but didn't want to search through 15 pages. I am deciding to finally "play around" with my 103 cu Streetglide to bring to Stage 1. Going to get Ness Big Sucker air cleaner kit, probably Screaming Eagle tuner and then deciding whether to spend extra on Headers or De-cat the stock ones. Have V& H slash cut slip ons already on the bike. Looking at S &S Power Tune Dual Headers( $1133) or look at Supertrapp Performance headers($751). Obvious differences in price, but for Stage 1 is de-catting the stock headers enough for power increase?

    Interested in this as well
I have a 107 and replaced the VnH Big Shots it came with and put on the stock headers and a Freedom muffler
The cat is in the original muffler on the Sport Glided
It might be in my mind but it pulls a bit better with the stock headers????

My 103 streetglide stage 1 we did the decat.....runs cooler and slighly deeper tone. Very little to gain with a aftermarket header on a stage 1. I have done over 80k on the bike since new and the temp difference once de catted is noticeable.

Thanks Paulybronco was hoping someone could give me a personal insight. What air cleaner kit did you use and tuner , interested in what options there are apart from Arlen Ness Big sucker and the S.E tuner that others have used

I used a HD Ventilator as it sits nice and flat without banging my knee/shin on it. I use a Power vision as a tuner and find it easy enough to use. It has a autotune function if your not to keen to play around with settings yourself.
