Well prior to heading to Cape york i purchased a new helmet and a visor insert.
Helmet- Airoh St 501. Very Comfortable and pretty quiet with little wind noise. Ventilation is fantastic. Nice and light and very minimal buffeting from oncoming trucks etc. I would buy a Airoh again
Insert- Whites anti fog photochromatic insert. These are well worth the money. Basically you stick it to the inside of the visor and if the sun shines it darkens the visor and as the light fades the visor reverts back to clear. It works very well. The downside is the insert doesnt fit the whole of the visor and initially your eye is drawn towards the outside of the visor where the insert doesn't cover. After half a day you dont notice it. The anti fog is genius, tried it out for 10 hrs coming home in torrential Qld rain, not a hint of fog even sitting at traffic lights. I will re use this product.
Conclusion- The helmet went to the kid over the road.  After multiple washes i was unable to get the inside clean after enjoying the benefit of the ventilation,  but in turn drawing in all that red dust then riding home in the pouring rain turned the helmet into a red/brown mess. Certainly not a flaw in the helmet and will relook at the brand. The insert is a winner and ready to go on the next full face helmet. Next gig is Steep Point around 11k round trip.
