G'day fella's.. I own a 2003 FXDX with big bore heads high comp pistons upgraded cams etc etc I have a set of manual decomp buttons but she is a battery and starter clutch Killer!
I love the bike it handles and rides fkn great and has plenty of balls but FK Im sick of replacing starter clutches and friggin batteries every 6 mths or so it's a dead set pain in the arse and the wallet.. So do any of you good cnts know of a fix for this such as a more heavy duty starter clutch 1 way bearing? Or perhaps a more powerful and heavier duty starter motor?
    Thanks in advance Blokes 🍻🍻🍻

With Decomp buttons it should spin over easy as.  Are you able to confirm that they are actually working?

Probably too short cam duration. What is your cam and compression?

I would suggest getting some travel limiters and set your lifters off the bottom. Then see how you go.
Motors expand with heat, they don't contract past their coldest point, so set the lifters when cold.
Lifters bleed down with valve spring pressure when sitting and valve timing is different on startup which is similar to running higher compression.
When you already have a higher compression engine this results in hard starting.
I have 11.2 static and about 220 ccp and had problems with hard starts, particularly with a warmer engine.
The travel limiter lifter adjustment solved my problems.
Quick, easy fix to try first up.
