new rear rotor (custom solid unit mirror polished) and pads on the back of the Sporty. Plus sanded to rims a little to clean them up and a coat of ceramic to keep them that way.

Next is the front rotor, pads and rim followed by the fork seals.

I swear this is true, a mate of mine, a diesel fitter, back in my mining days was telling me on the way to work how much better his cruiser ute was running after a service, he had used some magical engine oil, changed the box, diffs and transfer oils, put a K&N filter in it, he reckoned the RPM at 110 had dropped at least a 100 revs from before, he was serious to, gave me a good laugh.

    Sorry, bit off topic.

Went up and over Mt Hotham today after an overnighter to Bright.

Absolutely freezing (2 or 3*) and dusting with snowflakes.

Hey Steve, The battery terminal is a bracket screwed to the actual battery with a socket headed cap screw (see pic below). This allows you in theory to screw the cables in several places, though in practice you don't gt that choice unless you make longer battery cables.
I don't really remember how old that battery is as I have three bikes and two batteries (one crapped out) and have modified the mountings so the same battery fits all bikes - the one I ride depends on which bike is playing nice at the time.

    Cheers, Will

    Thanks for that Will.
So it seems that the older yellow ones were the same as the older black HD ones in how the terminals are arranged. That suggests that new black HD ones, if they are available, will be the same as the new style yellow ones, if Motobatt isn't telling porkies about them being identical, and the minor issues I've struck fitting the yellow one into an 86 to 90 XL will be there on the HD black one.
Suggest not buying sight unseen, and check to see if it will fit your application.
I have had good runs from Motobatt batteries  generally get about 3.5 to 4 years from the 3 I've used.

Still got a bit of life left in it.

    You'll be ok.  :)

Forks are leaking and the front Rotor is up for replacement so while I have it apart thought I would play with painting the rims, so laid down several sample area to see what I liked.  The Burnt Orange won (thats the orange not the brown), so that's the direction.  Like the look of highly polished rotors as well.

2 hours roughly, not long but pushing my limits ATM, funny I was looking at dual sport tyre's this morning 😁, need a flammin battery, this one is shagged, it started it, just, but I wasn't game to shut it off until I got home, better get one coming today rather than stress the charging circuit too much.
What to get now is the question, was hoping 408 was gunna give a glowing report on his Supercheap special but it's crickets there lol.

Still got the HVT-1 in the bike.
The lithium is still sitting in the corner.
I didn't check the voltage when I got it, but it sat in the corner for 2 months. I checked it a couple of weeks ago and it was 13.2v. Says you are right to wack it in the bike at 13v or top it up if under.
I topped it up then and just checked it at 13.44v
