That was the issue i had as the bike was not black....the prefered painter for local HD  did a pretty good attempt but it just wasn't quiet right. Anyway the bike was bought to tour on  and not polish to death so that's how it stayed.

the one major drawback with Harley colors is the matching!  if only they used a local or popular paint brand instead.

Yes and were talking 2012 when i had it sprayed , paint tech has moved forward from those days with colour matching.

Chucked the FXR up on the dyno during the Canberra harley open day. Ran 91hp/110tq, which I was very happy with for an untuned setup, and carb vs EFI.

Wouldn't put my bike on a dyno for WOT without it being tuned first.

And how else would  you  get a base line for future tuning   I’m sure John would
Have given it a squirt on the road at some stage  there’s a lot less load on a dyno than the road
Which his been Building for few years now and knows this thing inside out

WOT run for a baseline ?
You are joking ? Better than nothing l guess.
A baseline run is generally made on the same dyno on the same day previous to the tuning to compare before and after tuning under similar conditions.
John says the bike is untuned;  most factory engines are lean to satusfy EPA. Some afr s are around 16, 17.
Afr for a power run should be 12.5 to 13 at most.
Running the HPI pipe will bump the VEs and a lot more fuel should be thrown at it.
Anyone who has done a bit of DIY tuning would know that a dyno can load up an engine more than running on the road.

No need to lecture me  about tuning  I know how it works not sure how ve table and maps are going to help
John’s blue dyna   Maybe it  will tell him what size jets he needs and which way to turn a screw  and as for a dyno causing more load than road that comes down to the ramp rate the  dyno. Operater is using  which normally isn’t that high on a power run  to many people get carried away with the whole dyno process
Its not always going to show ever fault or good thing it’s just another tool

The dyno is a tool, as you say.
When you have feedback from O2 sensors or a tailpipe sniffer you have a tuning tool..
Not the case here; you have a measuring tool giving you hp numbers.
The engine doesnt know either way.
It is a 4 stroke internal combustion engine doing its thing.
How well it does it, or how easy it does it, depends on the state of tune, whether carby or throttle body.
The operator is not looking for data,  he is not checking the state of tune, he is looking for the peak number at WOT, and he gets there the quickest way he can.
That is why you sign a disclaimer when you offer your bike up.
I wouldnt put my bike up for a power run or dyno shootout without knowing it was safe at the top.
