Wideglider raises a valid scenario, this happened to me as well, the lever appeared to be moving freely but it was not although I think the pooch pounders issue is in his caliper, tear down, clean up and new seals will sort his Queensland hating hide.

coil been on bike for a quarter of a century and sit near the rear cylinder can get very hot there when I was testing for spark was not constance when it did spark was a very weak blue spark all so think the heat shields help much trap the heat around the coil

That's a bit hard on him mate, gotta say that the one time I actually met PB rather than give him a wave as he rode the other way or chased him or led him up a mountain road, the morning I said fuck getting to work on time after a brisk ride up a mountain and pulled over at a cafe and had a yarn with him, he didn't try and hit on me at all. Maybe he just didn't fancy me, I am a bit of an ugly old bastard.

You might be able to help with an issue I have with my back disc  mate.

Every time I get off the bike  the front disc  is cool to the touch but the back one is too hot to touch.
Its been like that since I replaced the pads about 7 years ago and I have been watching the disc for any signs of wear.
I have come to the conclusion that the caliper or maybe  one piston isnt releasing properly.
I have spayed the whole lot with WD40 and levered the pads in and out numerous  times over the years but it still happens.
There is no noticable wear on the disc so its not really a problem but I  was just wondering if it has happened to anybody else.

PS :  I bought a cheap dial indicator (clock gauge)  off Ebay to check the run out but cos the bike doesn't have a center stand I couldnt be fucked using it.

My previous 2015 Wideglide did this too, the problem was the rear brake lever being a little seized in the bush not releasing properly and holding the brake on slightly, the solution remove brake lever and clean it up with a little sanding or wire brush lube with anti-seize (or grease), I'm not saying this is your problem but it may be

I had a look at the lever mechanism yesterday. It doesnt look like the lever is seized but what I did notice is the weight of the lever itself is pushing slightly on the master cylinder. If I pull the lever back with my finger it moves about 1/8" of an inch back and when I let it go it falls forward again the same 1/8".  The play is coming from the first clevis pin . The lever hangs at a 45 degree angle so it must be putting some sort of pressure on the master cylinder. Hard to say how much but it feels like a fair few ounces on your finger to lift it back the 1/8 ".
I will jerry rig a spring or maybe even an occy strap to hold it back before the next run and see if it makes any difference on the temperature of the back disc.
It would be interesting to know if other bikes have that same 1/8" play..
I soaked the lot with Inox .

You could jack the arse end of the bike off the ground; put it in neutral and spin the wheel. Do it with and without your jerry rig ; you might get an indication whats going on.

I could do that but I am a lazy bastard. I will wait for somebody who isnt lazy and owns a bike lift to do this experiment.

Got a mate than kit your caliper in exchange for beer or just basking in your sunny personality? I reckon that's what is, age, seals and bellows hard, bit of corrosion maybe.
