Just did a couple of short rides to wear my tyres in - and yes it does feel like a new bike !

Weather has been nice last couple of days , so good to get out and about .

    Very nice looking bike Rex

    Thank You Sir !

I still just go and have a’ look at it ‘ dunno why , just looks right .

I have looked at the new Indians , but they dont grab me the same in the ‘ ohhh I want one ‘

The new kwaka z900rs look nice - as do the triumphs , I have had super sport bikes , but the classically or retro styled ones hold my attention for longer .
Sportsters tho , that would be my kryptonite - I do like a nice Sporty .

I feel like a bit of a dill about this one. I've moaned on here about the piston slap in my tired old motor. Today I discovered that the noise I've been hearing is the speedo chattering in its mount, because the rubber mounting ring is knackered. The noise only occurs as you put load on the motor, no matter what revs. Worst under acceleration, disappears as you back off. Put a hand on the speedo as you accelerate and it disappears.
Welcome to the wonderful world of vibration resonance. I'm a much happier man now, might even celebrate with a beer.

I remember a mate telling me how much his ‘18 M8 motor buzzed and rattled a lot. His first Harley.
I got him to start it,beckoned him over to put his ear near the tank and then I put my index finger on and off the fuel cap. The look on his face was hilarious.

I was wanting to carry a few tools with me on my '95 cos these old girls are prone to shaking things off every now and then, usually at the most inconvenient times and my saddlebags are all mounted on the other bikes, so I looked around the shed for a bit of inspiration and this is what I came up with:

Looked around online for the speedo cushion, 67104-83, the failed part causing my piston slap. Found them, generally about 7 bucks US, ranging to 50 bucks Oz, scattered availability. Being a bushie tight arse, I might try some rings cut from a stubby cooler first, the bottom ring held up by a cable tie.

Rode it just for transport, nothing special, just needed to go some places.
Shuffling trucks around, getting back a loaner we've had for 6 weeks while one of ours got a new clutch and some pump repairs. I'm real glad to get ours back, the loaner was an older build, completely different valve layout for water flow, and tank could have been better baffled, it got a bit snakey at highway speed.
Glad we've  not been asked to go out to the fires near the Cecil Plains to Moonie road, they were working with a 75 km fire front yesterday.
