I had an intermittent problem with the right hand blinkers ( 2002 twin cam )
Pulled the switch apart and looked for something obvious but couldnt see anything so I sprayed it with WD40.
I went looking for the flasher unit but couldnt find it so I sprayed every fuckin electrical thing I could see. ( the whole bike )
The right hand blinker still didnt work and I was in the same position as wombat and was thinking I might need to take it to the bike shop.  I jumped on the bike a couple of days later and they were working fine . You fuckin beauty !
    Still working to this day.
I am no sparky but I think there was a bad earth somewhere.

I tried following the electrical schematics in the manual but it didn't really help cos I didn't understand the drawing.
    Try the wd40 first up.

Put the little plastic tube in the nozzle of the can and have a couple of rags handy to try and keep things clean.
You will need to remove the seat and spray the whole fuckin lot.   ( electrical )

Hi mate, on my 2003 soft tail, when I installed saddlebag brackets, the 2 / 4 screws go into a captive plate / nut setup. Just undo both and it'll fall out. I think you just use fingers to hold it in place to do it up. (mark them as to direction / side) Have a look at this video. No need to remove the wheel but it may pay to but the bike on a stand to lower the wheel. Good luck

Just watch out for scratching the fender as you finish undoing the bolts - very easy to do.  Would suggest laying down some painters tape above and below the bracket as a pre-caution.
