Good stuff Stevo.....if you want to swap fashion for function take off that piece of crap std seat and sub it out for a ultra seat. Have done back to back 1000klm days two up on my Street Glide with that ultra seat. They look like a fat girls arse but you will love it. July we are doing Sunshine Coast to Airlie Beach (1010klm) then Airlie to Cairns (620klm) wish i was doing it on my Street Glide.

Cheers PB, was invited to your Island based on this pic (800) klms on the Breakout  (Canberra trip a few years ago) ! Appreciate your comments re the seat, had no issues thus far, if any thing relocating the boards more forward! I'm 6"2, it a bit of an issue on the legs! As for the seat, going the CVO knock off and having it re padded, should come out just short of a Saddlemen!Enjoy the ride north, and what may I ask is your steed??

Cheers Steve and with that sign in the background you've earned a visa waver straight up! The ultra seat is around 2inches higher and totally changes the triangle between legs butt and arms. I am headed up to the tip, Cape York on a BMW1200GS. We will do around 6500klm there and back over the 14days. The bike will do it, not so sure how the 61yr old body is going to cope but hey rather regret doing something than regret not doing it!

    Well done stevo fxsb
I did the the Iron Butt 1000 about 10-12 years ago on my 98Softail, Seymour, Narrandera, Dubbo, Goondawindi, Toowoomba, Brisbane.
I have done consecutive 3 and 4 1000k days and it is a breeze compared to riding through the night for another 700ks after a 1000k day.
I made it harder for myself by changing out the seat before the ride. It changed my usual riding position and was a huge mistake.

Softtails didn’t even have suspension until the 2000’s did they?

No,  they have suspension. I have upgraded the front with Racetech but stock rear.
