Hi guys, last weekend I headed to Augusta in the southwest and it was a balmy 38degrees in Busselton after a nice ride up Mornington road and Wellington dam so after we left the lunch spot minding my own business an old bird ( my age) decided at the roundabout to turn from the left lane towards dunsborough in front of me with no indication, I washed of as much speed as I could and leaned however she decided then to brake and stop so the inevitable happened. I clipped her right rear and went down, result was a large bruise on my left hip that came out a few days later but miraculously no other injuries except a few sore muscles, the bike however not so much, lots of gravel rash on the left hand side but still very rideable, had it to the bike shop and estimate is 12 to 15k 🤑 the last picture is the bike currently, looks fine till you start going over all the scratches and scrapes .

What has the dealer got to do with it other than take off and replace the agreed damaged parts? Labour at $100-$120 per hour then the parts on top. Its the exaggerated prices of the spares/replacement parts that you should be questioning, Harley has been taking everyone for a fool for a very long time with their pricing. Harley are positioned as a premium brand and thats how they price parts and accessories.

I thought I'd broken my leg on Good Friday when I took a detour at Clare into gravel and nearly lost the ultra. Front wheel went one way, back the other and right leg kicking off the ground pedaling like crazy. No brakes and a miracle the bike stayed upright and kept going. I've been to the doctor twice, had xrays and ultrasounds and thankfully no lasting injury. After Stropps issues, I'll take that over scratching the bike anytime. I said to the doctor. "you can always replace a leg"
I've been limping and eating painkillers and anti inflammatories like sweets

Edit: may I also say Stropp that beard is magnificent.

Ouch old fella.....well i did one better than you....went for a bush bash up the back of obisteves old place and threw myself down the road at 70kph on the dreaded clay. Left knee and groin copped the smashing but being a QLDER just soldiering on. My left groin is blacker than Denzel Washingtons.....

Took it to a mate who quoted to replace anything scratched with new, however I’m just replacing the bars, crash bars and pannier lid covers and pocket the change as I told him it will undoubtedly get dropped again at some stage

Sorry to hear that, those clay stretches in the hills can be trouble.  Which road?
Hope you're treating the injuries in the old Queensland way: rub some Bundy over any abrasions, then put to one side for later oral application. Apply 4 cans of ice cold (1°C) XXXX full strength on the bruising in groin, almost wrote on the swelling in the groin but no, leave cans there until they warm to 4°, then drink them, and put another 4 in place to warm.  Repeat.

Have been following your excellent advice but subbed out the Bundy for gentleman jack. Was out past your old place somewhere near bellthorpe range rd. The track we were on was washed out pretty badly then opened up so did we, and then the dreaded clay....i had the BMW in enduro mode and that mode allows some rear wheel spin but cuts power when it gets to wild. I hit the clay upright , the rear hit the clay and spun up, then cut the power, the weight transferred to the front that washed away. The back came around but it was over once it spun up. I lowsided on my left , knee hit the ground first and pulled my leg away from my body causing the injury. Its all fun till i tried to get up the next morning...lol
