My jet ski insurance ran out today so i got online to renew the policy as per their email. After several attempts it kept saying i didnt have a policy and that i needed to call the office. The reason they gave was that i live on the Sunshine Coast and due to the level of claims in the area they wouldn't renew the policy. I have had the ski for 4yrs, always insured with them ($750 per yr) never had a claim , never been flooded etc. Many thanks Club Marine.

So after being uninsured for nearly two weeks Club Marine rand me today as a "Valued client" to let me know that its MY privilege to re offer their renewal policy. I get online to do the renewal and its now gone up $200, so nearly $1000 to insure the ski for $1500 less than 12mths ago. When i ring them to check that's correct i get the same old line about the floods etc.....IT NEVER FLOODED IN MY AREA!
After covid businesses with prior shit service blamed covid for delays and poor performance now "The floods" is the next excuse ...

ring them again and when they say it has gone up because of the floods, remind them it is a boat and will be unaffected by a flood

Cheers flstc08 but marine insurance is a bit of a niche segment with very few options, Club Marine being the largest in Australia. Other companies offer insurance but are underwritten by the same company as Club Marine, Allianz. Basically its Allianz that assumes the risk on behalf of Club Marine. Youi insure my bike but their policy was significantly more expensive and funnily enough they wont insure my house for being in a flood zone but will my bike and ski!!!!

    PB,
Can you get insurance that does not cover flood damage? IE it will still cover other things. I can remember back in the day as a young fella I could not afford full comprehensive insurance on my bikes so I just got third party, fire and theft. Maybe an option if you are willing to risk the flood damage?

When the last floods it QLD some years ago we got a call from our insurer saying that they would no longer be offering flood cover for our house as a part of our policy. I laughed so loud at the girl she asked what was so funny. I told her I live at the top of a 400 odd meter high hill. If I am under water then the rest of Adelaide is well and truly fooked.

    Cheers

Cheers WW....Club Marine has every exit covered believe me.....they ONLY offer 1 level of cover....you guessed it full comprehensive. The only variance is to opt out for between one to eleven months when your ski/boat may well be not being used say over winter months.

Should people who dont/cant insure their homes have a expectation that the federal government bail them out because of natural disaster?
