roller import

    Hi all, hoping for some advise/info

    I’ve got a US titled 1951 panhead motor here in australia. I’m looking at getting a roller sent over from the USA to put it in. It’s an original rigid pan frame with many period correct parts. 

    will i need an import approval to bring the roller over? Once it’s here, do i have to go through all the engineering etc that a modern bike would need?

    Yes.
    Aust customs import approval.
    Used to be $50 but probably much higher now.
    Ive heard that the greenies managed to legislate asbestos free imports only.
    So may have to look into that ie brake pads removed clutch plates etc.

    You'll probably have to strip out the brake pads (if still fitted) owing to asbestos laws.
    If they opt to fumigate it expect to pay 500-1000 for them to gerni it.
