I am hoping I can get some advice on towing with my Freewheeler
I am searching for a Teardrop Camper, the ones I see are about 400kgs

My view here is the bike wieghs around 500kgs so to tow 400kg with elecric brakes should be OK

Does anyone here have any thoughts or experience before I pull the trigger

    Cheers Steve

Antic your best finding out several things...GVM, towing limit , towball weight, state laws etc before you make a decision. Trikes are unique in the geometry and how they steer compared to a car/4x4 or a bike and the last thing you need is a heavy van behind you pushing you straight ahead ( understeer) when your headed downhill while trying to turn. Not saying that will happen but perhaps do your best getting expert advice including from your insurer. Keep us updated.

I’ve been looking on google. Recommended no more than half the weight of the bike even with brakes.

Thanks for the info, I take your points regarding wieght
I agree that a 400kg camper plus a 500kg bike hurtling down the road at 80ks could end in tears
I think I have been watching to many American video's.

I have now turned my attention to waterproof 7x4 tradesmans trailer,
quarter of the price, half the weight and 3 times more practical
I will get it sprayed to colour match my Trike and bingo all good for my trip in April

Thanks again,I will learn how to upload pics before I set off

Just make sure you dont exceed the GVM and that's inclusive of you/pillion/trailer and all your gear combined. If your overweight and involved in a prang insurance will leave you high and dry.
