Pomona, in the Noosa hinterland, received a massive 1,300 millimetres of rain in the past week, 500mm of that in the 24 hours to 9am Saturday. Hers at my house we got 600mm in 24hrs and they say the worst is still to come. Gympie about an hour away  and this from the BOM "The Mary River at Gympie is currently at 22.06 metres and rising, with major flooding. River levels are now above the flood levels reached in February 1999 (21.95 m). The Mary River at Gympie will remain above the major flood level (17.00 m) across the weekend and into next week. Further river level rises are possible with forecast rainfall overnight Saturday into Sunday."

Yes poor bugger was on his way home. Seems like he parked the bike and tried to walk over the creek to check the depth but the current swept him off his feet and with all his gear on drowned. The creek swelled and then took his bike as well. RIP
