Well the old name has returned with a retro looking modern bike. Most of us would have either ridden a BSA or had a mate or relative who owned one. From Bantam's to Golden Flashes they were once the most popular brand in the world. Like most brands now manufactured overseas but a nostalgic brand never the less. Interesting to see how many are sold in Oz.

growing up through teens and being bike addicted, all i wanted was a rocket 3...but by the time license arrived they where out of production,so settled with an italian HD as first bike.when these hit our shores i will have a serious look.looking on some world sites ,there a ot of very old rivet counters who are not happy with the " goldie " designation...but they wouldnt be happy with any thing retro, and thats their perogative.

The old man was a BSA fan much to the disgust of his father who was a Norton man till the end. I do like the look of the new ones, shame they have that radiator, spoils the look a wee bit.

My first big bike ride as a kid was a best mates fathers pride and joy rocket 3. We push started it down a hill and at the bottom it stopped. We thought we had killed it so pushed it back home and put it back in the garage. We later learnt that perhaps switching the fuel tap on my have been helpful!
After that revelation we were unstoppable.....that motor set the passion i got for triples owning many two strokes and a shit load of 4 strokes. I traded my last speed triple in on the Street Glide.

have been lucky enough to have a mate insist i take his t150 for a short  ride a couple of years ago[ just a few km's ] and it was a great experience and the sound was great too, which fueled the want even more but todays prices being asked put one out of my reach at this point in my life...maybe one day.

Yes agree that the lines are spoilt by the radiator but seems like most modern bike motors they have to go the water cooled route to keep EPA happy. The way we are going we are going to be talking about attractive battery packs sooner than later.

They kinda had a character about themselves and the noise was part of that theater. Had several CBX 1000 and again a fast bike in its day but that noise....

It's in the eye of the beholder. Would have to say not everything on the bike is what i would go for, but in today's compliance requirements the bike looks as good a replica can of a look that is representative of the original.

In the club that i am in guys have also pointed out that it is not as faithful representation of what could/should be to use the Gold Star name, trouble is these people as a customer are in a very small [and diminishing] minority, if they were the target customer base 'New BSA' is on a path to decline if it went that way. The bike has to attract new customers that are interested in buying a replicant vehicle with today's, technology, braking, smoothness, reliability, with individuality thrown in.

What this bike can do is tap a whole new customer base of guys that become married/associate with a badge, this in turn may interest some of these guys to get involved in the original offerings of the BSA company, thereby underpinning continuance of clubs that purely by their demo graph is aging with their collections.

I wish them the best of success.

    Cheers.

Be interesting to see what price they are when they land on Australia. Not sure if they will arrive this year  and BSA will have to find enough dealership's to sell their bikes without travelling hours and hours just to look at one.
