The 883 Iron is a great looking bike. The look of the exhaust wrap works really well.  In my opinion they should have made a 1200 version that looked exactly the same as the 883.  The 1200 Iron looks close but not as good.

    I wish they did.
Am considering getting a bike to commute to work (Woy Woy to Parramatta)..  the only Harley I like the look of is the 883, but worried I will outgrow it too quick.

Guess there is always the option of some 1250 upgrade kit or something? though, not sure how much that would add.

Welcome to the forum wid. This is the age old question. Don’t analyse it too much. If you like the bike get it!  You can always upgrade later. It’s a great size to hone your skills and zip through traffic. Always be someone in your position looking for a good bike when it’s time for you to move up. “Seems” to be often done, but costly to upgrade engine with no guarantee of getting money back. Perhaps tell us a bit about your riding experience and any licence restrictions you might have (f any)
Fwiw I had a yammy rd250 lc as a lad, got scared when a mate totalled it and nearly killed himself, stopped riding for 25 years, then got a 1450 Softail which I’ve loved since.

To my eye that bike looks great in every way, except the tank.
It looks like it has been mounted way too high on the frame but I suspect that is how they came out from the factory. Wonder why they did that?.

Looks like it has had a tank lift fitted to me.

Yeah, looks to be a 2" lift.  Looks like chit as the brackets are always crappy looking.  I have a lifted tank but went and modded the actual tank so it looks 100% factory (better than factory imo)

I reckon 90% of what I see listed at the moment is ‘not registered, no RWC’.. or ‘I’ve modded my bike horribly, I can’t get a roadworthy now it’s your problrm’

Thanks for your input MM. Just off the top of your head (for the new members...and me.) what would stop that bike being able to be registered.

Didn’t mean specifically that bike, but first glance in that (in vic anyway), bars and pipes are a fail, potentially air cleaner (some guys won’t do open style cleaners).

But yeah sorry wasn’t ragging on that bike in particular, just currently in vic, all these bikes without stock pipes, you just can’t easily get rwc in vic any more.

Yeah its tough here!  My Sporty got a RWC with a set of screaming beagle pipes mind you.  I recon with the ton of mods I have done I would still make it through an inspection.

I reckon bikes would need a front mudguard...or fender (if we must sound like a yank) to be registered for one.
Plus if someone spends that much money on a bike like that they just might be asked to have a thorough mental health examination, no one wants to be sharing the road with mad cunts.

    Am I correct?
All that money and not one performance upgrade?
