I predict that being an election year, restrictions will ease very quickly, the political spin will soon kick in as both sides start the "we will give you more not more restrictions"

and I think I have seen hot cross buns in the supermarket so Xmas has passed

YES, greater restrictions, really, if the current covid case numbers happened 12 or even 6 months ago, we would have complete lock downs, locked borders, no pubs or coffee shops or the like, not restrictions like 10 visitors, masks only indoors the list is endless

yet the people are jack of 80% no 85% no 90% vaxed, now every one with the booster will be free and on and on

the people are sick to death of the virus that knows the difference when you are sitting or standing having a drink or a feed, playing sport/exercising indoors or outdoors

yet an election year, I hope I am wrong

but (no pun intended) they are outside, no mask necessary, the virus know you not indoors and it can't infect you!!

There has certainly been some strange directions from various state governments. Just bear in mind that the Federal government has zero ability to overrule state government directions.

It will be business a usual next year... even with high infection rates the public are 'over' it now and just want to get on with life.  Booster shots will be the annual order of the day and fingers crossed the antivaxers all manage to kick the bucket as well.

Annual? Boosters are down to four monthly after Jan 4th, and three monthly after Jan 31st.

Just a small clarification Smokey....there is no requirement to get a booster EVERY three months,  just AFTER your second shot your able to get a booster three months after.

Interesting take from a supposed motorcycle rider tussuck, especially given your currently free choice to ride one puts you at greater risk of injury or death.

And knowing well those risks, if injured you could easily be taking up a hospital or maybe ICU bed that could be better served for someone that others might consider more deserving of it.

When the booster will be a requirement to keep the vaccine passports current. My money is on it being before then but let's wait and see.

No evidence yet, it's merely a prediction that I made for Australia a couple of months ago after seeing they started pushing boosters into fully vaccinated people getting serious disease and dying (although in reduced numbers compared to the alpha variant) amid waning vaccines and skyrocketing case numbers of Delta in Israel.

Not too long after that we had boosters announced in Australia with Greg Hunt lying his arse off during the press conference telling everybody that they're still fully protected with just two jabs, this is just a bit of extra protection among other things.

Omicron might change things here, but not too much from what I'm seeing at the moment with boosters getting pushed very hard on vaccinated people who don't seem to be getting severe disease and/or ending up in hospital with it, and already boosted people still catching it. Like I said, let's wait and see, only time will tell.

And by the way, Merry Christmas (post) and happy new year everyone.
