Twin cam issues

    I'm new to Harleys and are after some advice.
    I have a 2011 Softail standard which I put extended forward controls on, so I removed the exhaust, I put back on, all together and it ended up leaking at the engine so I purchased new gaskets and it seems to have fixed the issue.
    But now it has no power until you give it a lot of throttle and it takes off. 
    Then let off and backfires and no power again.
    Rear cylinder was 110 degrees and front was 78.
    I pulled spark plugs and both very black. They were only 500ks old, NGK dcpr7e.
    It has 259e cams, big radius pipes and SE intake.
    Also running a Vance and Hines tuner.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Not familiar with that model, but during mods any sensors disturbed?

    Only the 2 oxygen sensors, and ABS module.
    No codes show up on the V&H fp3 code reader, not sure how good they are at getting codes.

    Are the oxygen sensors/wiring damaged, or not connected back properly?

    Definitely connected properly, and cannot see any damages to wires, they all seem secure

    Installed new plugs, and seems to have fixed problem.

    You could try a hotter version of that plug range if the issue returns.  DCPR7E with the hotter being DCPR6E

    Sorry for the ignorance but that does allow the actual spark plug to run hotter and therefor burn the extra fuel??

    Im pretty sure 259e cams need at least 10.5:1 compression. Theyre used in the stage 3 and 4 kits.
    If youre running stock compression, they aint gunna work.

    Yeah, I'm not 100% sure on rest of motor, was done before I purchased it. 
    He said it had that cam, springs to match. 
    I was thinking of going for a more of a torque cam anyway.

    Issue has come back, it was running fine, then gave it a good squirt and it's fouled the plugs again. 
    Things I've remembered are I put a small amount of injector cleaner in tank. 
    Would that be causing my issue?
    Also would running one range hotter spark plug help?

    Its running Rich if its fouling the plugs so look to the Tuner first.  Are all the O2 Sensors connected correctly and are they the same type as the original - ie wideband/narrowband/3 wire/5wire.

    Also is it throwing up any error codes?
    Again if you can plug into the tuner it should also be able to tell you.

    No codes coming up on tuner, I cleaned plugs again, disconnected the O2 sensors and cleaned contacts and reinstalled. 
    It fixed it, but I didn't get to full operating temp or get to give it a lot of throttle as a big storm came through.

    Where in Australia are you ?

    I would try disconnecting the FP3 tuner entirely and reconnect the O2 sensors.

    The bike will revert to OEM "stage nothing" stock ECM tune. It should run and not foul plugs tho'.

    It will run hot so best not run for long but it's not gunna hurt to ride it around a 10Km run or whatever.

    I used to see this all the time with original Power Commanders after a few years. (Bad for electrical contact corrosion)

    I've put it into autotune and seems to run better. 
    I remembered it started fouling plugs with the canned map. 
    Although autotune is slow and drinks the fuel I'll give it ago

    Not sure why auto tune is heavy on fuel....autotune generally trims fuel AFR towards the leaner side.

    Although I was told to change the fuel target from 14.6 to 14.4. 
    And o2 from 0.5 to 0.8
    And lower temp to start autotune to 175

    So does that tuner have a facility to do a basic autotune? No predetermined settings etc....

    I'm not 💯 sure, I only changed some parameters that Vance and Hines told me due to it not tuning properly. 
    So I guess you can change things and run your own tune
