Too loud for some

Looking at disposing of my 2009 VRSCAW. According to the CFO, it's too fast and I'm too bloody slow. However, in order to pass muster, in the opinion of Harley Heaven the noise level of my screamin' eagles won't get me the roadworthy I need to sell it. Have pulled out one of the baffles to take a gander and the measurements all seem a little strange. Certainly not in accordance with all the so called "quiet" baffles on e-bay and other suppliers. So, have decided to re-wrap in new fibreglass blanket after drilling a couple more holes (yet to disassemble and check out pipe). Was wondering if anyone has tried to quieten down the noise and if so, how did they do it without costing a fortune?

"Muffers" not the solution. 'Screamin Eagles' on my bike include pipes right up to header collector joints. Have no intention of sawing off the end section just to use slip-ons. No point. Considering buying ceramic blanket and re-wrapping metal insert sections. Have watched YouTube bloke doing it on his Indian and seemed to work. No point re-inventing the wheel!!!

Oem headers and mufflers are around and often cheap. I’d consider that an easier and more reliable option than anything else. And if you get hauled thru the pits, the oem exhaust system avoids all sorts of issues when they see other exhausts with other names on them and non-oem epa approval stamps

Not many on here with vrods

    Good luck with it

Problem. V-Rod stuff is not easily found and when it is advertised, not so cheap, unlike the Road King I had for nearly 20 years (apart from engine work done when first purchased). About the only thing Harley on the V-Rod is frame. Brakes are Brembo's, motor & gearbox Porsche, tyres anyone and rest is Chinese. Ohhh ... Harley Davidson have the company's name on it, so that's a start!!!

If you know what a v-rod exhaust looks like, that's only the header and collector. Another length of pipe is needed to reach far enough back and usually has mufflers welded to it (as in my screamin' eagle set up). The slip-ons also look like they came off a Night Rod, whereas my stuff is all chrome (my preference). Thanks for entering the fray, but I've decided to go the wrap route.

A really old trick to quieten a pipe for rego was to jam it full of steel wool before the baffle. Just make sure its not steelwool with the soap in it....

Perhaps do it correctly. Problem as I see it is that the bike needs to pass muster to resell. I don't even think re wrapping the internals is going to cut it. It's OK if you are doing it for yourself and fully aware of the mods and consequences but it'll be an unpleasant surprise for any new owner. AND they know where you live..

Hey lets not skirt around the issue here...if its a v-rod its likely going to be Habib from Lebanon whos going to buy it and take the whole exhaust off and roar around town anyway....just saying
