On that very issue I think tts was one of, if not the only, tuning module that allowed you to save the oem calibration for future use if one removed mods and wanted to put a bike back to oem specification. The only problem is you saved it to your pc and if a bike is sold after that, many people won’t have the oem calibration to return to. It is the oem calibration which ultimately unlocks it from tts

Or download a suitable MTE file from the TTS site if the oem calibration is not available.

Pretty sure the original is now saved to the vci when you first marry the unit to the bike now, I've never considered it an issue, others don't like it.

HD dealers cannot reflash your ECM if the bike has a TTS system installed. TTS locks out their dealer Digitech laptops/desktops.

    And DEFINITELY not in Australia.

I have not used a recent TTS dongle , but I believe the OEM tune is now stored in the unit as Grease monkey states.

The Power Vision saves the OEM tune to the unit when first installed as well, and every subsequent tune after that if you want to go back and load a previous tune.  There is room for about ten tunes.

Most HD Dealers may not be able to reflash the ecm but anybody with a TTS dongle can provide access.

I could now count the folks I now know in Western Australia with a TTS dongle on less than one hand.

Most of 10+ years ago have either them or the bikes have moved on.

Not one of the WA HD dealers would have such a dongle to hand , I could almost guarantee that.

I had to "borrow" one to load the last unlock calibration a few years back.

That was a very nice (and rare) 2006 Springer , bought by a Perth Vietnam Vet from Bartels HD in Marina Del Rey California.

Once it arrived we found out it was "TTS locked" and the TTS dongle was not with the bike ( all too common that actually!)

It's the "locking" thing that's the bugbear , for me at least , and it caused quite a ruckus in the US I remember.

My own experience of TTS was around 2008 to 2011. I have had laptops die with saved .MTE files from TTS lost forever...

I had to do "unlock" calibrations last in 2017 with a borrowed TTS blue dongle from South Australia.

TTS were very swift and helpful , and their website at the time would send an "unlock" calibration in response to receiving a downloaded calibration or "tune" from a specific ECM. Still logistically painful.

I get that it would be a hassle if dongle and bike part ways, when I sold my wideglide I made sure to hand the dongle over with it and stress they need to stay together.

See this is why I LOVE the Thundermax on the Sporty.  No locks and the current installed map is 100% downloadable so never any issues.
