Are you installing just a canned map, tuning yourself on the road or getting a proper dyno tune?

I’ve only used the tts of those two options but installing a canned tune is easy. Road tuning with the tts is relatively easy (except spark tuning) and tts’ instructions are second to none.

If you’re getting it professionally dyno tuned, ask the tuner which he prefers, can he use either, consider cost of either tuning module etc

I am going to be tuning it myself on the road
The Maximus looks more user friendly
The tts is able to be used on 2 bikes with the right license

The TTS is the superior of the two, that statement is based on what tuners in the states have told me as like FB I've only used the TTS personally, both will be a big learning curve, I've done quite a few with TTS, the best results or more accurately the fastest results are achieved by mounting a small windows tablet to the bars or mirror image the screen of your laptop to your phone, you can fill a histogram or section of same in quick time that way plus you will get your data gathering techniques down pat much faster. I'll post a pic of one of the last histograms I did on mine so you can see what it can look like.
If you do go with maximus please do a thread on the process, I was supposed to do one on a 2019 streetglide but the fellow has gone quiet, covid I guess.

Oh as to why, the TTS has more capabilities, quiet a lot more, if you download the TTS tuning guide and compare it to the maximus specs that will be obvious. Nothing wrong with maximus, capable device, as are a few others.

Creator and owner of TTS developed the screamin eagle race tuner for Harley, only to later enhance it with the TTS. Name is Steve Cole and he used to post on here occasionally years ago. What he doesn’t know and offer enhancement for with the twin cam Delphi ecu isn’t worth knowing. And his feedback and support is outstanding. Not too many blokes like him that reach out first hand to provide support to home users

Mark. There’s a reason why good motorbike tuners are in demand.
If these learn as you go units were as good as they say, the tuner experts would be out of a job.
What I can tell you from being a fairly long term member of this forum is that tuning bikes properly seems to be an inexact and frustrating process with “many” unhappy customers.
May I ask why you think you need to go down the tuning route?  What have you done? Noticed?  Regards
Also from forum experience, a multi bike licence for a tuner is not a cheap option.

I have a high flow air cleaner
    After market exhaust
    Torque cam
Since I did the exhaust it has developed a hitch at 70-80 mph on acceleration
I do not live close to a dyno and I am not happy with canned map

The TTS is probably the best system about. Works a treat if you know what you are doing. Take the time to do a bit of reading and get your head around it. The key is making sure the O2 bungs are going to work for you.
I have tuned about 90% of the range I ride in, bit tricky trying to do full throttle on the road. You can do cam timing, 'crank to run', warm up steps, and spark timing, which not a lot of pro tuners would worry about.
If you are not interested in putting in the time and effort like most here, go to a professional tuner.
(And most Harley dealers do not qualify)
SE tuners would suffice for stock and stage 1,2

What about a power vision. Pretty good unit too, have one and have done quite a few auto tunes with it, made a big difference.  I am not an expert and haven't used all the options I could on the unit, but  there are many available within the tuning spectrum.  Can also be left on the bike as I did with mine and gives heaps of real time info.  Temp, gear, fuel consumption  etc. etc.
Don't know anything about the TTS etc. having said that.

I heard a while back the TTS units are in short supply in the US and you are not likely to get one here.
If you are ever likely to get a dyno tune for the bike, like fatbat said, check that the Tuner is ok to use it as well.
I don't know anyone here who uses the green unit but if I was buying a new one I would buy that rather than the blue, but depends how far you think you will go with it. Do a lot more reading first. Check hdforums in the US.
Search for shrouding of the O2 sensors, GreaseMonkey has posted here about it a couple of times.

Go to the tts website and download the user manual to read. It’s probably one of the better tuning manuals around

The factory supplied Supertuner Pro was an easy to work with setup. Orange dongle

Withdrawn by Harley a few years back as the US EPA came after Harley Motor Co. ( because they could !)

You have to find the last version of the Pro software , as HD stood it down on their website a year ago or so. It can be found.

A few years back TTS started to "lock" the ECM and users did not know for quite some time. Painful process to reverse often.

Don't get me wrong , from 2008 for many years TTS was my main go-to when the Perth HD dealer was still fitting Power Commander PC3 plug ins to customers bikes.

The TTS "ECM locking " thing dissuaded me (and many others in the US at the time !)

I had to do a few TTS Unlocks. TTS were helpful at the time when Perth was flooded with used US imports where the TTS tuner dongle parted company with the bike somewheres on the journey.

The Supertuner Pro software did not do that hence became my first choice after TTS having been my preferred option prior.

Both of these systems , Supertuner pro and TTS "mate" to the ECM of the first bike they are put on.

Supertuner pro that is a reversible process , and the orange dongle can be reset and made perfectly useable on a "new" bike.

OR you can still pick up brand new Supertuner pro dongles in the sealed box. IF it's OPEN it has been used, so be careful.

I had 2 brand new examples, one left, box sealed , PM me if it may be of use. Listed in the for sale section of the forum.
