Binnsy, what sort of travel do the sportie shocks have mate? Biggest problems with the SGS rear shocks are lack of travel and oversprung for guys under 90kgs.
The Bitubos get good reviews for the cheaper end of the aftermarket range.
I put JRi shocks In 13" length and luv em.

Apparently they are a longer shock, but when fitted to the SG they sag to the same length as the stock SG shocks.  As a result its the same height but a softer ride with a shocker made for a lighter bike, that actually takes some shock out of hitting bumps etc. At least that is what I gleaned from the video.  Not sure I would try it by buying a new pair of shocks for an 883, but if I had some laying around it would be an interesting exercise.  May change the ride dynamics a little.
Those JRIs change the ride height at all Doc ??

    Jesus christ lol

    Old mate has no clue.

There is not a CHANCE those would work out well. Yes, they bolt up (like stacks of Harley models bolt up) but the spring rate would not even be in the right sport, let alone the right ball park.

You can see how much static sag there is just from him setting the bike down on its own weight, its already blown half the travel.
Now when he sits on it, it'll sag more and have maybe 1.5in of travel left? It'll be on the bump stops straight away, let alone if you actually put anything in the bags or have a pillion.

He's talking about not being able to get it to bottom out stationary by jumping up n down on it and that thats good, as a self proclaimed 'light' rider, say he weighs 80kg?. When that thing hits divit or bump or pothole, it wont be 80kg of weight, it'll be 455kg of weight going through the shocks to make them move.

And he's just said pre-load changes stiffness, so confirmed he doesnt know what he's talking about lol.

Hey mate, John summed up pretty well what I was implying.
The JRis didn't change the ride height noticably, mainly because they were sprung for my weight so the bike actually sagged. The extra travel is a definite bonus. Heaps of choices out there,  but whatever way you go  get the springs matched to you as best you can. Transformed the ride on my bike.
    Good luck

Where did you buy yours from Doc?  Im interested in them.  I do like the look of the Progressive 944s as well.  Had progressive front and rear on my fatty and they were pretty good.  Im 86kgs and the stock SG ones nearly throw me over the bars on a decent bump....
