Well l fitted the Hayden BT-07 and up for the twin cam to my 09 FLHT in 2013 and said it was definately quieter all round except for the compensator clunk when you switch off. l bought a Baker compensator two years ago from Rollies and finaly got around to fitting it last week ,along with a new primary chain . When l originally installed the Hayden in 2013 l thought it was a bit tight but now with the Baker compensator and the Hayden back in l had 1/4 of an inch gap at the heel of the tensioner and at the centre of the chain at the top l had a firm 1/2 an inch cold . The factory recommends 5/8 to 7/8 cold. l have sent 3 emails to Hayden seeking advice with no reply. Well fuck them, l've installed the later generation of factory tensioner part number 39929-06B which l just bought from Harley for $169. This is what l reckon the 09-11 compensators and primary adjusters were junk hence Harley fixed it , The Hayden is more suited to the soft tail range with the longer primary and the distance between the clutch and crank centres . With the Hayden installed on these models the approach for the chain is at a lesser angle so there is less load on the chain. With the touring models the centres are closer and the approach and departure angle are greater and the tensioner has more load on it. Am l happy with Haydens lack of reply. No. Would l buy another one for a touring model , No . Give a Hayden a miss for the Twin cam touring models

Give Hayden a miss for any twin cam.
I installed a Hayden tensioner in my Fatbob and it was the best thing since sliced bread until it wasn't.
I liked the way it worked and it ran like a champ for a couple of years. I became aware of a bit of noise in the primary and when I opened it up I found the springs had broken, and the chain was slapping slightly on the inside of the cover. The springs were retained inside the shoe and didn't get out into the primary. So while I was looking at waiting a couple of weeks for replacements, I found a temporary replacement and started researching the spring failures online. There were a few, and there were also shoe failures. Chunks of the shoe breaking off and circulating in the primary. When I examined mine, I found hairline cracks in it, so out it came. I have modified the original tensioner and I am happy with that.
