WTF has happened here?  Has COVID killed off the folks who actually build bikes (and by definition a catalogue buyer is not a builder)
    This is sadness squared.

What’s got you fired up here Tussuck and wadaya mean “by definition a catalogue buyer is not a builder” ?
There are very few people who manufacture their own engines, trannies, cams, etc and even they use a catalogue for electrics, instruments, spark plugs etc.
So yeah, what has happened here to trigger your post? Not sure I follow.

I have been away for a while from the forum and it used to have a really active homebuilder section.  Now it seems quiet as a grave other than whatshisface stilllllll building the awesome FXR.lol

    Ah, I get it.
I have a few mates who are into the recon/modding side and they’ve all moved into classic bikes both British and Jap.
Old hogs are rare and pricey these days and finding something not already chopped up is bloody near impossible. I’d like to restore a 74 XLH or FXE but jeeze after 8 years of looking I gave up and sold off my NOS parts. Sold my basket case Bonnie and recently bought a 1972 Waterbottle, old mate bought a basket case H1 Mach III, another got a damn Vincent !

OMG... Your unstoppable!   Im in the throws of getting mine onto Club plates but the main focus has been converting the Sporty to a chopper look.  Just finished painting the tins - bloody good fun too; I think I missed my calling.
