I had mine replaced at 92,000 kms on my 08 flht.

    It was rooted.
The mechanic told me to listen for the clunk once you shut the motor off.
    Doesn’t clunck any more.
Now has 119,000 on the bike.

    Hi Neale
Do you know what brand he changed it to ?

Is there something that makes them wear out faster or something you can do to make them last longer.

    Hi Leachy
Apparently they just changed the design in 2007 (my year) and they were shit.  The new Comps come with a ramp for better oiling and thicker steel I believe.  I think it took them until 2011-2012 to fix the problem.  The new Screaming Eagle ones are supposed to be much better.  If you need one don't put the stock one back in.  Talk to your Independent and see what he uses or some of the blokes on here recommend the newer HD Screaming Eagle and Baker ones.  I'm going to keep looking into the Dark Horse Rubber ones.  Looks far better engineering with No metal to metal ramps.  If mine doesn't completely fail I may just wait it out until I go back to the states next year and buy one there.

Hopefully my bike doesn't ever have the issue, its a 2016 model and I think it has the SE comp fitted but just wondering if there was something that leads to premature wear.

Should be ok with the se compensator added oem then unless there are serious mods to engine and transmission/driveline
