Today is the 4yr anniversary of my best mates death through a brain tumor. We rode Harleys around America 6 times, Canada once, scooters in Indo and Vietnam. We drank and ran wild as kids, and loved every moment and just as quickly it was gone. Dave rides with me every time i jump on a bike, i miss him every day.

You never forget.
My best mate hung himself about 18 months ago and I also think of him every day, the good and bad, and the times and life milestones you will never get to share, plus wondering how I managed to fail him as a mate so bad that I didn't know he felt his only way out was at the end of a rope.
Losing someone close to you is a real hard thing to go through.
RIP to your mate.

You should not think you failed him as a mate Pete.
Suicide is an individual choice and in some circumstances makes good sense to the perpetrator.

Agree FC.
Six of my mates chose the same path in the 70s, yeah, in their 20s.
There never seemed to be an acceptable reason. I still can’t fathom it but no longer feel any blame.
That Black dog can be a nasty and invisible bugger.

My Brother in law hung himself in his early thirties....he owed a measly 10k in his business. So very sad, two little kids, one who found him and all the heartache.
I understand your loss.
RIP to your mate.

Back in those days no one ever really spoke about big time depression and that sort of stuff.
It was there but no one seemed to know what it was or even had a label for it.
Others take matters into their own hands if they get some sort of terrible illness.
Reckon I would too if the right illness came a knocking on my door, worse luck.

One thing is for sure, everyone is battling their own demons, whether outwardly or not. Tread lightly til you know their story.
