Bit keen on one of these soft shell jackets.  Cant seem to find anywhere local that has one to check out. Peter STEVENS the local dealer, enough said.  Not gunna buy one without looking at them first.
I like the soft shell idea and the fact that there is still some protection and waterproofness there, also a thermal layer inside.
Anyone here got one or seen one and have any thoughts.
    Cheers

    Hi Binnsy
Do you mean those Harley mesh style summer jackets with the armour insets ?
If so, a few mates have em and love em.
Man, in summer, they seem to drink less at each beer stop while the rest of us are melting and trying to make out we’re health conscious by guzzling water between beers.
I’d have one for sure but Harley clothing just doesn’t fit me, my guts are too small and my arm too long.
Not sure what that says of those they fit  😎.

I am going into PS in Adelaide Monday or Tuesday to have a look at "Zarkie" heated gear, will try on the range and then compare pricing with other suppliers and if cheaper elsewhere order online.

yes I am getting soft and having lost over forty (40) kilo's I am feeling the cold.
I am even looking to change jobs from S.A. to Qld to get away from it

I’ve got zarkie heated gear and best gear I bought. I bought the heated long sleeve jacket liner and gloves that plug into the jacket liner. The jacket liner has a lead the plugs into a lead near the battery. Toasty warm and can easily turn down or off if getting warm. No bulky, thick, multiple layers.

I use an Rjays breeze leather jacket for Summer riding. Lightweight leather that’s perforated and also has armour. I found it cooler than the mesh jackets and like the look of leather better too. I don’t think they make them anymore but you an still find them around

I have a HD mesh jacket with Armour. Great summer jacket and if you put a long sleeve jumper underneath will get you thru a cooler morning.

    Thanks for the replies.

I do have a couple of mesh/textile type jacket that do a good job of ventilation.  The one I posted the link to caught my eye as it was a soft cell construction and looks very comfy.  I find the mesh textile jackets a bit uncomfortable.

    Speaking of protection.
Just a tip. I was (I thought) getting excessive wear on stitching and denim in the upper leg area on my Draggin Kevlar Jeans. I took them into a dry cleaner to get patched and stitched up.
Long and short, I've been washing them too frequently. Usually a short cycle in the front loader after each / every second ride.
DON'T wash them unless they get dirty or smelly. They'll last a lot longer.

Fancy that!, they can handle sliding along the bitumen with someone in em but are sensitive to a washing machine.

I also found out we don't need such a big machine Binnsy. Mrs told me I had to be in the jeans when I washed them.
Edit: but I think she was fibbing!

Went to Peter Stevens today and tried one of these jackets I was wanting information on.

Very very comfortable.  Waterproof if needed and has CE protection in the elbows.  Can also add back protection if so desired as there is a pocket in the rear to fit same. Has a hoodie which zips off so you don't get choked by it when riding.  Ventilation and a zip of thermal liner.  Three colours, navy, black and a god awful tan colour.  These are the shit!!!
One, black one of course, now hanging in the bike clothing cupboard with all the others....
