Lockdowns don't correlate with spread. Plenty of countries, even individual U.S. States show that you can be open and have no spike in cases. On the contrary, locking the those who have the rona down with others spreads it through families. It's not an outdoor spreader, it's an indoor spreader. High density areas, higher chance of spread. Lower density areas, little risk of spread unless locked down with others. People being people, some will move around regardless of restrictions, then one new case becomes another whole family.

Australia's greatest asset is sharing no land borders with other countries. Next is our low population density.

Vaccinations help lessen the more serious effects of the virus, does little to stop transmission. Masks are unnecessary apart from high density indoor areas.

Lockdowns are the new speed cameras. If they work, we need more. If they don't work, it's because we need more.

I'm pro vax, always have been, but I've always advised skipping the first version of anything. Currently I'm waiting, watching, living in Murray Bridge, a town that's had one single case and that was in May 2020, so I'm not feeling a sense of urgency. Looking at getting Moderna when it comes to Oz. Might go AZ, I'm old enough. Pfizer is going for six monthly boosters now. Nah.

Smokey61 , friend in USA got the Moderna as only need one shot, & they are still ok. I got the AZ they said 12 week b4 second shot, but on Sydney radio they were saying yesterday can get second AZ 4 week latter, so I'm a test monkey!

I figure they're trying to strike a balance with AZ. A study from The Lancet said that maximum efficacy with AZ was achieved by delaying the second dose as long as 45 weeks after the first. If you live in a hot zone, 45 weeks is unrealistic. 12 weeks has been recommended in between doses, once again, if you live in a hot zone you may choose to have the second shot only 4 weeks after the first. I'd probably wait 12 weeks personally. YMMV.

Long term, the Pfizer efficacy seems to drop off rapidly after only six months, hence the boosters.

Haven't seen much on Moderna yet.

I just wish people would realise that there are many people who cannot wear masks or get the vaccine, and shouldn't be treated like lepers. Karens and Kevins are going Nazi all over.

In relation to the new variants Pfizer chief executive Albert Bourla has said that he expects a booster to be needed in about 8–12 months after the second dose of the Pfizer.
There are still so many unknowns and new stuff emerging daily that it is hard to keep up to date with the latest findings, it's an evolving situation with no end date.

What would be your opinion on why many people 'cannot' wear masks?

Asthma, Emphysema, autism, physical or psychological trauma, skin conditions, etc, etc. Which is why exemptions exist.

Should the Government be forced to supply the medical evidence that they supposedly relay on to lock down states? We have heard the same old tune week after week but not a single person has asked to either see, or test this mysterious "medical advise"...interesting isnt it...

Well Pauly. You should be happy, I’m watching the release of various federal covid modelling data, matrix etc.
Jeeze, I guess the Prof knows what she’s doing but making an effective presentation isn’t her forte.
Way too much illegible info, glad she’s not responsible for designing road signs.
I hope it’ll all be available on some web site but they didn’t say where. duh.
