I wonder why they de-rated the power to 120hp instead of the 140hp of the Pan American?

Apparently you can get a dual seat for it (for $$$ of course, it IS HD)

I agree, just because I don't mind the look of the Harley and think the Ducati is pig ugly doesn't mean everyone else has to, each to their own, it really doesn't bother me.

Having said that some things can be ugly but still strangely appealing, the Ducati still doesn't fit into that category for me, the Sportster S probably does. I'm willing to bet that the Ducati is probably a better bike overall though.

Sorry the Sportster was a name was linked to getting people into the Harley brand at a affordable price. But now we have a bike that has a starting price of over $26,000 which is nearly 2 grand more expensive than a brand new 114 Street Bob. Maybe this bike might sell well in the European market and maybe America but I doubt it because they like their big V twins in the USA and I will take a wild guess that here in Australia it will be a flop.

I don’t think that radiator or oil cooler is going to like that tiny front mudguard.

Do you remember that Seinfeld episode where he talks about car names used to get interest in a model.
Limited edition. = Limited to as many as they can sell.

Never once watched Seinfeld but know what you mean about car names.
Had a Daihatsu "Scat" for many years. Was not a bad vehicle, 2.8 diesel 4x4. Go anywhere, etc.
When they thought foxes were on the loose in Tassie, everyone was told to look out for fox "scats"......in other words shit.

Can't even buy those new anymore. Cheapest new HD is the Softail Standard once they run out of 883s.

I think the old models will eventually go up.  Especially in Australia where there's not that many around.  I've seen the value of older Shovel Sporites go up in recent years.

I have a mint condition 48 and was thinking of trading for a breakout, rung the Dealers and there are no more 48's coming in. Having second thoughts now about keeping it and having two bikes...

The 48 is a great bike.  Classic Sporties going forward will have a special place in Harley history.  I don't think the same will happen with bikes like the Breakout.  I've got a 1200C, one of the last Sporties that was updated with ABS, better brakes and electicals.  There won't be any more bikes like it.  I'm leaning to making it a keeper.
