Scratch on pinion shaft

    G'day,
    I'm after some advice.
I've got a 2018 stage 4 street bob, second hand from the dealer with 20,000k and I've had it for about 10,000k now. It had a very 'ticky' noise at idle and between 2300-2800rpm. I suspected lifters as I have read that the SE lifters have been known to fail, so I decided to open it up and have a look/replace the lifters anyway.
The lifters seem okay, but I'm replacing them regardless, however the camshaft has quite a few dull spots in it, I'll upload a photo. I figure that if the lifters are junkers then they're going to affect the cam.
The most worrying however is the flywheel pinion shaft, it has 2 little scratches on it, they're not very deep, but I can catch a fingernail on them. Does anyone have any advice for my next move? I'm thinking its either, take it to a shop and see what they say or run it how it is (i do think that i overthink things when it comes to my motorcycles haha).
    I'll attach some pics.

The marks are on the pump drive flanks, it would suggest the rotors have been loading up on it, which suggests a contaminated pump.
That cam is destroyed, as will be the lifter roller surfaces. I would be looking a whole lot deeper than just the lifters.

I've got an LS1 engine pulled apart because of a cam that looks similar to, but not as bad as that and it was leaving really fine metal in the oil. Agree with Hoodeng, it's rooted, double check your lifter wheels as they should look similar.

It's either a dud cam, lifters or something else is going on to cause that. I haven't got mine pulled apart enough yet to diagnose it but I suspect possibly the hard facing on the cam wasn't up to scratch.

    Thanks for the replies.
I am prepared to buy a new cam and lifters. The scratch on the pinion shaft has me scratching my head and concerned this might be a bigger job than anticipated. Im probably going to go to a reputable flywheel machinist to get their opinion. If there is anyone interested, I'll post the results

Definitely worthwhile to look more into it beyond replacing cam and lifters. If that’s all there was to it then lots of folks with non stock cams would have similar wear marks without any more going on. Not spending the time or money to properly consider it now might otherwise bite you in the arse later with more damage and costs.

Is be going to an engine shop familiar with harleys. Even if it means a bit more travel. Where are you located?

flogging it cold within the first 10 klm's can make the cam lobe's like ulgy
