    Chester,
    seriously, fuck the pancake .
Suppose when I'm dust cunts will be riding the two wheel buzz machines everywhere.
I'm a dinosaur and happily admit, I would never ever buy one, even if all the reports are fav for it.
Watched Long way down with the dynamic do, enjoyed it but even though they were positive you could see the failings of charging the two Harleys.

You're a very wise bloke that has lived a full life, full of quality bikes under you. I think the pancake has been sold to a lot of first timers and that's all ok. I was giggling watching the long way down, when the bikes take off they sound just like the fighter jets on star wars.

Definitely an interesting change in bike selection over the last 10 years for us ‘more mature’ riders 😂.

Sport and super sport tourers we’re all the rage and are all but gone. They were very popular with the older crowd who didn’t want to be riding cruisers.

Last 5 years or so Adventure bikes go hand in hand with the grey haired set, rarely see someone under 40 on one because of the prevalence of the grey crested man-stork riders.

No idea how many would actually ever go off the black stuff, but I would guess it is not a great percentage, they obviously now prefer the comfort of the adventure setup to the speed and agility of a sport tourer. Need for speed must be dying out faster than we are 😂😂

Just thought Id add my two cents worth.

I have just moved into that category as well but kept the Harley. As for speed and agility, I just sold my VFR 800, The Kawasaki Versys will eat that alive and be more comfortable than the Harley.

This category of bike it the best for touring.

"As for the "grey crested storkman"? What, and who, the fuck are they ? "
Maybe they are the tall older guys who ride adventure bikes from Ibis hotel to Ibis hotel.

I am enjoying giving my 1200gs a fanging around the local roads, both black and brown. The electronics are amazing!

This has got me intrigued.  What the fuck is a grey crested storkman?
My guess is it is and old cunt with long legs and a slightly vacant look on his face. Probably wears milk bottle glasses.
I have been known to be wrong before but.

Chester i must put my hand up as well for being a skeptic as well. BMW have been doing this for a very long time and seeing how stuck in the low tech world HD was i was very nervous about how they thought they could simply jump to the top step of the podium with a new product.
I have sat on the bike , heard it run but not ridden it. I took the cowards path buying a trusted and tried product and loving it a BMW GS.....but well done HD

Its funny you mentioned cockatoos FC.  I was driving up the Hume highway today around Goulburn and there were flocks of black cockatoos. They were all flying in an Easterly direction. I saw at least 4 flocks with at least 20 birds in each flock.  Never saw that before.

Its interesting how they released the bike and had no idea on costing for panniers etc...i fully understand its a totally different beast to what they usually sell but i was hardly going to spend a shit load buying it and then be bent over for the fit out. At this stage still no one manufactures bits and bobs for it aftermarket.....still a great first attempt though.

Hey guys, been busy, just read the replies. The focus of my post was actually lamenting the demise of the sports tourer, tastes change. Even when sports tourers were popular there were a plethora of adventure style bikes, they just weren’t as prevalent on the road. Times and people’s choices and tastes change. Now hardly any new sports tourers are available or purchased/wanted for that matter.

I’ve ridden both styles of bikes a lot over the years and love both. Only sold my trail bike in my late forties, just got too hard as I got old trying to keep up with the youngens on the jumps and MotoX tracks.

Definitely wasn’t saying anyone was a poser, each to their own. Man stork is what a group of us pretty much poke fun at ourselves and those like us. Look at the profile of many over 50’s riders in either tight sport leathers, or ADV gear. Skinny thin legs, pot belly, sunken chest, making the neck look long, and the grey and generally loss of hair makes the head look too big. Grey crested Man stork came into being.

Here is a shot of some drinking out of my bathtub on the front lawn.

My Buell Ulysses is getting a bit long in the tooth, the Ulysses has been a great bike, you have to have the right tool for the job, thats why you need at least 6 bikes, as soon as I can accumulate enough cabbage I'm buying one,

Picture of the birds fantastic fc. What a treat (noisy?) when they turn up. Once a year is fine. Shame it’s in June. Still could always build a fire around the outside if the tub to take the chill out of the water. Can rest your knackers on the brick.
