2002 Ultra Classic Check Engine light - ET Sensor Open/High?

    G'day All,

I've had a check engine light occasionally flash for a couple of months now if I get on the throttle (I don't beat on the bike, but say I overtake or hit a steep hill 2 up), it normally goes away once I ease off the throttle. I was hoping to get it looked at next service (3000k away) Just come back from a run Avoca to Ararat and back, the last 20 mins the light was on solid (not flashing). Last I checked the flashes it was ET Sensor Open/High
My nearest Stealership is Central Harley in Bendigo which is an hour and a half from me.

    Does anyone
    a. have experience with this fault?
    b. know a good indy mechanic close to Ballarat-Avoca area?
    c. think I should trade in for a newy? (haha)

    Thanks and stay safe

    Pete

Ultra Pete, when it comes on next, try stopping & turning motor off, wait a minute or too, then restart. if happens after restarting I would change or check the sensors. my twin cam carb I owned from new, used to do that, then one day it would not start & light just stayed on. I got a new crank position sensor & off she went no more trouble.

Cheers KK, I've ordered a new engine temp sensor, will go over all the connectors when I change it out.

Assuming the old two throat WM injection, is it engine temp or Inlet air temp?

Ok, early Delphi then. Check the wires to the eng temp sensor have not sagged onto/rubbed through etc the head, causing momentary shorting. It is worth a look.

    Cheers Lushy, I'll do that!
