Best Sydney dealer

    Hi Guys, 
    Looking at buying my 1st HD when I get of my P plates in a few months time. I live in Sydney and my question is which dealership do you recommend for going above and beyond in helping with adding extras to a bike from new such as Stage one stage two and their ability in getting and fitting non harley parts eg exhaust and risers etc, also do all harley dealerships have dynos for tuning ? If anyone has bought a new bike in Sydney and added upgrades before you picked the bike up id love some feedback.

    Personally I would try all of them as I have had the different HH shops give me a different price - its only a phone call and a visit if they talk a good price.  
    You have Frasers, Northern beaches (also a Frasers shop), HH Tempe and Blacktown, Sys's, Central Coast, Frasers at the Gong & Newcastle and Canberra HD. There is also one at Orange. 

    Ps I would go to LA Cycles for your Dyno work. They are great. Never heard a bad word about them - cannot say the same for the Dealers that have a Dyno. Sy's used to sent their Dyno work to LA cycles (not sure if they still do) as they don't have a Dyno.

    that is a huge range to get quotes from, wish I had that many
    I had 2 in Adelaide, PS did not return my call, Blair was a good price but still 10% more the Canberra, even with flights and 2 nights accommodation, i still saved money

    Forgot to add that from a servicing perspective (and even fitting parts / doing upgrades) I would go to the independents not the Dealers - Lots around such as P&L (Toongabbie) C&R (Revesby) LA Cycles (Hoxton park) to name a few. I am sure others will chime in with other recommendations.

    I would say.
    You are highly restricted going to a specific nominated dealer and unless you are prepared to accept whatever they have on the floor, at the moment with little stock coming into the country you will have precious little bargaining power on anything new or even SH.
    Why a Harley? What model? Why new for first Harley? So soon after P's? Why upgrade already? Why burden yourself with needless accessories? Why the expense? Are you borrowing or paying cash?
    Best bet is to spend some time looking on the second hand market and although prices are up, the range is greater and some sellers may be motivated. You may even find nice bikes for sale on this forum from time to time
    Spend the savings on good riding gear, courses and road trips.
    You may or may not use a dealer for servicing or you may use an indy. I use both.
    That's the sort of information best sourced from people in your riding group.
    Better go and put my feet up. I'm grumpy. I had a cuppa with spook today.
    Edit: actually that’s not true. I always enjoy and feel better after catching up with Larry.

    How times have changed!.
    When I had my P plates a Honda 250 was about as good as it got.
    A Harley cost about 8 grand which was about 3 years wages.

    I can see your response is that of an "older know it all rider" Firstly I have been to two Sydney HD dealerships since posting this. HH Blacktown and Sys HD Campbelltown. Both have new 21 models in stock with full showrooms and second hand bikes everywhere. I was advised at both dealerships if I want new and they don't have the model or colour I want, its only a few weeks to get one in. Your information is outdated, I'm guessing your getting your info online and haven't been anywhere near a dealership lately. "Why a Harley? What model? Why new for first Harley? So soon after P's? Why upgrade already? Why burden yourself with needless accessories? Why the expense? Are you borrowing or paying cash?" My response : I did not ask for help or advice on these topics. I am capable of making my own decisions as every man should do. Just as everyman should only offer advise if it is asked for.
    Also why would you assume i have a riding group, i ride solo, and there is nothing wrong with that. Its okay be be a grumpy old man, Harley isn't an elitist club its only a bike it shouldn't matter what you ride as long as your out riding.

    Good on you gg. That’s the spirit. Questions weren’t for us. They were a list for you to work through to come up with the best outcome. 
    I’m glad to hear showrooms are full again. Keep us in the loop.

    Good to hear. I was at Sy's just three weeks ago and new floor stock was low, about 6 new bikes for sale and everything else having sold signs. Few used bikes for sale out the front. Good to hear they have restocked with new and have "second hand bikes everywhere". Although, while there I was told by staff that the day's of having "full showrooms" of new bikes is a thing of the past. I was told that in future you test ride their demo, put in your order and they will get the required bike delivered to the store. This same principle, I believe, is what is now happening in new car stealerships, although I've only been told this as we bought our last new car 11 months ago (beginning of Covid) and it's not due to be traded in for another year or so. Mortgage free is great.... HH at Blacktown 2 months ago had limited stock also, so it's good to hear they are restocked. Might go for a look see tomorrow.

    GG With Harley they don't wait till New Year Cellibration's to call 2021, they tell us the New year starts in 2020. so look at build date!

    Yeah lots of cool bikes to look at now. And yes I was told the same thing about putting an order in. They said the popular bikes in the common colours only take a two weeks to arrive once ordered. If you want a less common model with a less common colour may take a few weeks more. And you are right same thing for cars. Thanks I'm sure I will get the bike I want, after talking to dealers in person it seems like a very straight forward hassle free process. I also want to test ride the new Indian chief and some of the Bonneville triumphs before I decide. Its the same story with those dealers i have spoken too, thanks soft...

    GG  if they said would only take a few weeks to get your order in stock. they must have good stock at warehouse . should check with them on that. as I would think if they bring them out from USA , would be on a container ship.

    I have not really looked at the Indian's, but I like the look of Boniville triumphs! I have a friend with a late model t120 (1200 Bonneville, looks good ). But as always the only way is to take the new bikes for a good long test ride, before deciding.

    Visited Sy's today. Must have been a cracker of a week sales wise as there were only a small handfull of used bikes (about 7) and even less new, not the full showroom that you, GG, said was there. Told me the average wait for a new Harley is 12 weeks. Don't know who told you 2 weeks GG, but talking to the guys they confirmed 12 weeks. No wonder the big push to buy used bikes. Time to sell if you are thinking about it as I was told above normal trade in prices are being offered. A small number of bikes with sold signs was there also. Spent about an hour and a half there and the place was quiet of customers all the while I was there. Even the free sausage sizzle couldn't attract the customers.
    I see Harley are now offering the 2021 Fatboy with chrome again, pissing off that satin look. The satin was something I didn't like when I test rode the 2019 Fatboy just over 12 months ago. I asked if the Fatboy on display was for sale and was told no.

    Similar situation at Hh Adelaide. (I don’t get out much and had nothing to do so I dusted off the deuce, Got off my ass and went in Fri) Many new bikes on display. About a dozen really nice Harley sh that someone had obviously lavished care and attention on. All either sold, demo, or awaiting parts for upgrades. All the new ones black. Order and wait. Didn’t ask time scale but 2 weeks unlikely. (I mean my old mans brain asks Who has a warehouse full of bikes ready to go but not already in showrooms?) Staff upbeat and friendly but not many customers. I had no reason to buy a new one. Prob cost me 20k to upgrade from 107 to 114 ultra. 
    Same story. Can get enough good sh stock and rep said many sold before even hitting the floor. 
    I felt quite excited for them and the brand.

    Yeah, 1982 I bought a wrecked CX500 and spent the weekends fixing it.  It cost me $150.  Two years later I traded it on a Yamaha XJ900.  Money wise I did well.  The high point in my buying and selling of motorcycles reached early on.  I went and perved at the Harleys at Burlings and Simmons.  I was just in love, really wanted one, but the eight grand price put them in dream land for me.  It took me thirteen years of marital begging and selling my soul, and working shifts and overtime to get a Harley in 1995.  The feeling I had riding away from the dealer that day will never be repeated.  No matter what I might buy in the future.
